It is scorching hot at the SPA, especially for the first 2/3rds of the race card. yesterday they contemplated cancelling the races due to the extreme heat, which would've been cancelled for ust the 2nd time in 141 years. Thankfully, they raced.
Today is expected to be 1 degree hotter.
Yesterday, the speed horse, or a horse that sat right behind him at the quarter pole, won almost every race. Deep closers had no shot. The track was lightning fast. The quarter and half mile times were crazy fast all day.
1ST RACE
#5 MYSTIC CITY - fits the exact profile of yesterday's winners. Solid speed horse, who should be on or near the lead with solid Beyer numbers and the best SHEET numbers in the field. #9 DEANAALLEN'SKITTEN has hit the board in all 10 of her races. Tough to think she won't hit the ticket here although she looks like a deep closer.#1 ROCKETTE'S ESCAPADE AND #6 UP IN LIGHTS have competitive sheet numbers to hit the board.
