I wanna believe that IU will come out inspired tomorrow, they will stroke in the three ball and score at will in transition.
I want to believe that this will be statement game to the tourney committee that they belong.
I want to think that they want to avenge their 20 point beat down at state earlier in the season.....but I don't.
IU does not matchup well here at all... Iowa, northwestern, Purdue beating them was no fluke. I have never seen such a one dimensional team. They have zero inside game and can't hit a midrange jumper. Sparty will look to force them into jump shots all game.
IU could light up the 3 ball like they did vs minny and win....but I will bet against that. Even if they do get hot, their D is so bad they won't be able to put the game away.
All of this and I still haven't mentioned the HUGE coaching advantage. I could go on forever about this but I won't.

I wanna believe those things as well, but I'm a pretty big critic of the Hoosiers......especially this bunch. Baffles me that their half-court sets this season don't include any real attempts at backdoor cuts and slashing and driving into the paint. They were fairly impressive in that area last season.
I can definitely see this one going either way and had this one pegged as a pick 'em myself.
Heart and hope says the Hoosiers, but brain and gut says Michigan State rides their recent inspired play and comes in with a well-coached gameplan to shut them down.
I mean, you almost WANT to force IU to shoot as many 3's as possible and roll the dice there...if they're off early, they get uninspired and impatient and force it more and more. They chase with the long range shots. At least that'd be my motive as an opposing head coach and Izzo knows what he's doing.
Can't get myself to pull the trigger either way, but I hope you (we) are wrong with that insight.

My problem with the team (besides the D) is the lack of a plan B on O. It seems all they do is hand off on the perimeter and try to beat the defenders off the dribble and if they can't finish kick it out for a trey. Problem is when you face a big team or well coached D, it's harder to finish at rim and they don't let the better shooters (zeisloft/Blackmon) get the open looks.
When they play a team that is either A retarded (IL) or B doesn't matchup well (Maryland) they look great. Team is fools gold and should not be in tourney. Their big wins verse top 25 rpi all came early in season or early in conference play before teams realized what to do.
I guess your right though should be close...I'll go with gut over heart.
