#26 Posted: 1/10/2013 3:19:42 PM Make single bets my friend. If win only bets. You have small room for error. Make 5 game bets if win so you can't ever go 0-5. It sucks if you go 4-1 n lose the first but what happens more...? Be safe. Turned 500 into 4500 here this week so tail me if u want. I'm big on second halves though. Check out my second Half strategy that is 5-0 so far

#32 Posted: 1/10/2013 7:29:57 PM Yeah I know I'm an idiot for playing 3 team parlays again, but just because I had bad luck on Wednesday doesn't mean I'll have bad luck tonight.2 Team parlays don't pay garbage and I'm really not confident enough to lay more money on 2 games.

I win my teasers a lot more than other people do....with that said I would NEVER EVER EVER bet more than three teams and take 8 pts to do it.
GL on your picks.

#38 Posted: 1/10/2013 8:25:10 PM Instead of mixing up all of your parlays, have you ever tried a 4-team round robin by 2s and 3s? You spend less money up front and get well rewarded for going 3-1.
It's a total of 9 bets (six 2s and three 3s). So if you budget $20 a bet, you're investing $180. If you go 3-1 you wind up winning three 2s (collecting $72 each) and one 3 (collecting $140), a total net of $176 - almost doubling your money. If you get lucky and go 4-0, your 180 turns into 532. Go 2-2 and you walk away with a manageable loss of $104, and still have almost $400 of your bankroll to give it another try the next day.
What I like about this method is going 1-3 has the same net effect as going 0-4. But the days you go 3-1 and 4-0 make up for it.
It's the best method of getting rewarded for a "lucky" day and yet not getting your butt kicked for going 2-2, which is what happens every time on straight parlays. |

#43 Posted: 1/11/2013 9:00:01 AM Idaho crapped on me throwing two parlays I had in the river.Would of had $340 to add to my account, but they didn't finish the job as they were up by 4 with 4 minutes left, but ended up losing 55-49. I actually only hit my teaser of all things, but didn't have much on it.Also Iowa($195 that could of been added) and Texas State($140 could of been added) both didn't cover either.Oh well stupid is as stupid does(like playing 3 team parlays) for example. So now I only have $277 to work with and today I'm only doing either a side bet, teaser, or 2 team parlay. Not messing with 3 team parlays as I've only hit 1 out of 18 3 team parlays so if that doesn't tell me something then nothing will.Maybe today will be the day I get my head out of my behind.

#44 Posted: 1/11/2013 9:21:31 AM I am new to posting on the boards but have followed for years. A few things stick out.
#1-Like others have said, if $1300 is an issue to pay the IRS, then life in general is going to be hard.
#2-Why post if you are not going to accept anyone's opinion. Mostly everyone who replied said to do straight plays but you decided to do 3-team parlays since that was your 1st "genius" idea. You could have done the same thing without posting.
#3-I understand your need for a "big hit", i get it. Less risk, more reward. The problem is that even if you hit 1 parlay, it would only net you $300. You are still 3 or so parlays away from hitting your goal after that. 4 3-team parlays to hit your number? That is far fetched.
In general, you are like 98% of the betting community. You bet parlays for the quick hit but are impatient and bet on the available lines. If you want the "big hit, less risk" do a $200 3-team open parlay. Start with 1-game and work from there. Forcing 3 games in 1 shot is fool's gold when any good gambler is hoping to hit 60-65% of their plays. Open parlays last forever and allows you to bet halftime lines that may jump out at you. Don't waste your money with 30 different parlays with a mix and match system. I would suggest straight bets but we both know you won't do that. So at least do the next "best" thing and open up a parlay. Forcing will never work out in your favor.
Good Luck...Based on what I've seen so far, you'll need it |

#45 Posted: 1/11/2013 10:36:06 AM Open Parlays are even more of a sucker bet than regular parlays. So if I bet $200 and win, then I am not able to collect??? I am them forced to find another game to wager $380 on? And then if I win that game I am still unable to collect my winnings of over $500...... I must bet over $700 on another game? I mean, play a $200 3 teamer if you want, but a big money open parlay is the dumbest bet of them all. |

#47 Posted: 1/11/2013 11:16:46 AM first off, i agree 'parlays are a suckers bet'...but do you guys know what a parlay actually is? theres no point in having an open parlay....an open parlay is a commitment to have to bet 3 games, THATS IT! its NOT a better payout!
example
3 team parlay...usually risk 100 to win 600 you're locked into these plays
INSTEAD straight bet- risk 100 to win 91--(win so now you have 191-roll it over) straight bet- risk 191 to win 173--(win so now you have 364-roll it over) straight bet- risk 364 to win 330--(win so now you have 694-100 you started with and that is how a parlay is payed out....
i see it in forums here all the time...especially with nfl playoffs...the games are not played at the same time so why lock into plays...say for instance something happens to a major player on sundays game and you're locked in already on friday....the lone changes and now you're screwed and may waste $ buying out of your bet....
if someone says, if u hit the first 2 then you can hedge the last---answer-- hedging is an amateur move because you shouldn't be playing parlays wherer a hedge would be worth it...
hope a lesson is learned...good luck all |
