YTD: 15-4

Nice win last night with Towson, I had a feeling Wisconsin would have a tough time with Green Bay too.  Today, 4 tough games on the slate to meditate about.

Not a full believer in Wichita State yet, and they will be up for a chance to knock off an SEC squad.  UT needs to get back on track and aren`t going to take Wichita lightly coming in with a 23 ranking.  But tough to back such a bad offensive team as UT, a pick `em spread seems right.

Belmont and Mid Tenn St. is another nice game.  Both top mid-majors, Belmont with a super efficient offense (VCU beat them by spreading the court and forcing 22 to´s´).  Mid Tenn St. has some solid wins and the loss of Dendy hasn´t been as damaging as I thought.  Can Mid Tenn St. keep up, control the boards and score enough at Belmont???  Not so sure MSU can....

Idaho St. is one of the worst teams in D-I.  They score less than 50 ppg, they just lost by 52 to Oregon!  Their best player shoots 36% and 21% from 3 (and he still takes over 5 3`s per game!!!!).  Cal Fullerton isn`t great, but they can score and have played good competition tough (loss by 2 to UW, 3 Nevada and 13 Stanford).  Cal Fullerton scores a lot, can they dictate the pace at home and blow out Idaho State.....probably...

Seattle is better than expected this year.  UW is talented but poorly coached and are seemingly chronicly hurt by NBA defections.  Seattle will want to slow the game down a bit, and try to play it in the 60`s.  UW will want to use their talent and run.  Can Seattle win the boards and play enough defense to dictate the tempo..... tough one....

Sure thing!  Right now I like Belmont, UT and Cal Fullerton.  2 out of 3 of those should cover.  Going to meditate on those for a while, see what manifests...(Eagles are tempting in the NFL too, but I know I can`t speak about that in this forum)...

Good luck all, use your winnings wisely.........

If you want the layup that u can't see it is Wichita st.  They could beat anyone in the country.  The question u should ask yourself is this... Will wsu overlook an aweful tenn squad???   Wsu will beat creighton this season.  Mizz valley is top 3 toughest conferences in the country.  Good luck in your decision

Wich St is legit... I think they will be up for this game on the road and an opportunity to get a big win against an SEC. I have seen UT and they simply cant create any offense. Only way they win if they can really slow the game down and Wich St shoots very poorly.

When did Wichita State beat Creighton, last year?  They beat VCU on the road, in a game VCU played terribly and missed lots of FTs.  Tennessee can´t score, but this will be a close game in my opinion.

Thanks Pasteur, I would love your input today eventhough I know you want to wait till 2013.  Every single game today is getting reverse line movement against the public plays. I still like Cal Fullerton and Belmont, but don´t if they are worth putting money on.  Not that I am attached to money, but I like winning it so I can give it away.

I know Thompson Boling Arena is a tough venue to win in, but I just don’t see how the Vols can keep pace with this battle tested Wichita State squad.  This line should be five so the Wise Men in Vegas are begging for Shockers money; but would they be so bold on a night with such a limited amount of games to throw such an easy game out there?  Thoughts…

For starters I think you're smart not to jump on Wichita State right away.  Sure they are better, but not by a large enough margin to make them a no brainer.  Tennessee looked bad against G'Town and Virginia, but both of those teams rank in the top 10 for defensive points allowed in the nation.  Despite the poor offensive showing, the Vols play stout defense and were actually in both of those games.  The Vols rank 22nd in the nation for defensive points allowed.

Secondly, this is a veteran group of players on the Vols, and these same players beat Florida twice last season, UConn, and played number 2 Kentucky within 3 points.  They're no strangers to playing against talented teams, and Wichita State won't be throwing anything at them they haven't seen before.  After losing two in a row, the Vols will be giving 110% while Wichita might be playing tight, worrying about their perfect record.

Also I don't know how relevant this is, but Wichita's only game vs. the SEC last season was a 10 point loss at home to Alabama.  But I'm learning the hard way that last year's results may have no bearing on this year's games.

@ Pasteur

I agree the nucleus of the Vols squad did return for this year’s campaign, but two key pieces of last year’s squad will NOT be active this evening due to graduation or injury (Tatum and Maymon).  Those are HUGE losses and the Vols record and performance this year reflect their absence…

Excellent point.  Tatum and Maymon were the main reasons the Vols were even in the game against Kentucky.  This is a difficult game to cap imo

For what it's worth, I think the easiest play on the board today is Washington.  In the last 4 years the margins of victory for Washington were 8, 21, 47, and 17.  Not that you can tell much from teams that played 4 years ago, but I think this highlights the talent gap that these two programs draw.  I think the 8  point game last year was a fluke, and the guy who scored 20 for Seattle last year in that game isn't on the team this year.  Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Pasteur!

I def think Tenn is going to play tough tonight.  Game is a toss up to me (not a profound statement with a PICK spread, haha), not worth wagering on in my opinion.  I look for a game in the high 50`s, low 60`s with either team winning.  I favor UT because they are at home and desperate.

Really don`t like Washington in this spot, these in-state games are deadly, and stay close eventhough the talent gap is big.  That is another reason I liked Green Bay last night, and Portland St. covered as well (I liked Oregon St).  U-Dub should win by 8, but Seattle will probably keep it ugly and close.

I wish I had been able to see Idaho St. play, the numbers are ridiculously bad.  Haven´t seen Fullerton play either.  Based on the numbers this should be a blowout.  Now the line is down to 14 in my book, somebody knows something we don`t.  Maybe because of Fullerton`s bad record?

Getting close to putting Belmont as my pick for the day, think they should be able to handle Mid Tenn State.  Another in-state game though, should be a close one.  Maybe I`ll just save my money for another day....haha...

Good luck, hopefully a winner manifests soon......

5 star play

Wichita St +1   @  Tennessee

#23 wichita (9-0) is going for their best start in school history have all the confidence going into this game! Tennessee on the other hand not so confident, but rested, and they play good defense. Wichita knows Tennessee is a tough defensive team so they wont take this game lightly. They go 10-0 here for their best start ever! tennessee will have to wait til next game ( presbyterian ) to take out their frustrations.

Can't go against Witchy St. Score many more pts per game than offensively challenged UT. Also won at VCU and AF, 1 great team and 1 vg team! Beat Depaul and Iowa by double digits in Mex. Close game, for a while and W ST. PULLS AWAY TO WIN BY 10-12.

coming from the guy that admits he's throwing darts at non conference play which leads to his sub par record.... Wichita St is the better team and better play.
