Push on yesterday’s over in the GMU/Quinnipiac game
Play: Illinois / Chaminade Under 156
For those the read my posts regularly, the majority of my
plays are on “overs”. However, an overreaction to recent results provides a
great opportunity to back an under tonight.
First, we have a D2 Chaminade team involved that was
picked 6th in the preseason PacWest poll a day after knocking off
Texas and exploding for 86 points. If there ever was a flat spot, this is it. Digging
a little deeper, you see that tonight’s total is the highest total ever posted
for one of their games in the history of the Maui Invitational (Totals
available for L3 tournaments). But more importantly,
none of the 9 games prior to last night went over 156 – in fact, Chaminade had only
managed to score an average of 58.7 ppg in this tournament since 1999. And this
should be the norm when you have a middle of the pack D2 school facing BCS
competition – not the 1.12 pts per possession they managed vs Texas yesterday.
We also get to play on an under with an Illinois team
that put up an insane 1.27 pts per possession vs a very solid USC defense yesterday.
One would have to think there would be some regression today. But even if there is not, and the Illini
manage to hit the 90 point plateau again today, you’re still asking Chaminade
to score 65+ points versus a B10 defense that is yet to allow more than 66
points in regulation this season for this to go over. I like my chances that
this does not happen and that yesterday’s results are the anomalies.
Good luck if you decide to make a play

Good looking play! Hard to see the Illini shooting anywhere close to what they did last night. I was very impressed with their defensive effort last night. If they bring anything close to that defensive effort Chaminade will struggle to bust 60.

Okay I also made this bet ... After making it I said to myself ... Why didn't I throw my entire account on this ? 153.5 !!!! That's waaaaayyyyyy too many points ... Even if Illinois out up 90 no way chaminade puts up 60 ... I've never been so disgruntled at myself ...
