This is my first post and let me state that I graduated from VCU 21 years ago and I'm a rabid Rams fan.
Now onto the game. VCU is playing great ball right. I believe they will make the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year and once again cause some headaches. Having said that, I think the Rams will have to make it in as an at-large team.
In my opinion VCU is superior to every team in the CAA except one. Unfortunately that team is Drexel. The Dragons have the perfect team to offset VCU's strength, which is pressure defense and scoring points off of turnovers.
Drexel is a guard-oriented team that moves the ball around as well as anyone I've seen all year. They are a tough team to trap and turnover. Now if you just saw VCU play George Mason and haven't followed them all year you may think they shoot the ball well. That's not the case. This team isn't as good as last year's version on the offensive end. They really depend on their defense to help ignite their offense more so than 2011. I don't see that working against Drexel for 40 minutes. The Dragons simply have too many ball handlers to beat VCU's pressure.
The Dragon's ability to beat the press and make VCU score out of their halfcourt offense will be the difference in this game. Unless Bradford Burgess goes nuts from 3-point range, I think Drexel gets the win and VCU has to play the waiting game.
Hot Garbage Play: Drexel +2.5 (3 units)
I play $100 a unit and most of my games are between 1-3 units, so this is actually a big play for me. Good luck to everyone tonight.

Thanks. VCU is tough to blow out because they play to the death so it will be a grind. But I see Drexel winning by 7-8 points. Too many empty offensive trips for VCU if the press isn't working. Good luck to you.

Good insight. Good luck tonight and with your squad. IMO, I think they both get in.
Thanks. I hope you are right. I love the Rams but I also know Drexel is built to beat them. Maybe I'm wrong but no one can say I'm being a homer. Biggest game of the year and I have the other team. lol

Do you think the starters for Drexel might be gassed come the 2nd half with the large amount of minutes they have played lately?
GL
Maybe but I don't think they'll struggle much with the press so I don't see them getting as worn down. VCU will make runs, no doubt. Their style is built on that but at the end of the day I really like the matchup all the way around for Drexel. And let's not forget, Drexel is a pretty damn good team. If both get in the Tournament VCU will get all the love because of last year but I wouldn't want to draw Drexel. Good luck.

haha. I am not an NC State fan, just a Scott Wood fan...but I am a Miami fan. But I'm a JMU alum, so my allegiance goes first and foremost to the CAA. NC State has had every possible chance to redeem themselves, screw them. Miami has kinda gotten screwed over by Reggie Johnson's knee troubles, concussions, flu bugs, and Malcolm Grant's inconsistency due to his brother's death earlier this year. I hate these high RPI teams that have every chance to redeem themselves, but I'll make an exception for Miami. I'd love to see more mid-major schools like VCU and Detroit get in though.

I couldn't agree more. I'm not a mid-major fanatic but when a team like Illinois was still considered on the bubble a couple of weeks ago I think we have gone too RPI crazy.
