AMAZING STAT FOR DAYTON XAVIER

Question

these 2 teams played a few weeks ago.. the score was 78-74 x-men.. but the amazing thing is that dayton out rebounded xavier 48 -29 and dayton had 24 offensive rebounds.. they almost had as many offensive boards as xavier had total boards.. one dayton player had 16 boards and hes only 6'5.. (6 were off boards).the fact that dayton still lost just makes this even more complicated...does dayton just match up better than xavier or is it possible to think that there is no way they can out rebound them again like that.. i cant remember the last time a team almost doubled the rebounding and DID more than double the off boards of their opponent AND THEN LOSE!!!!!!!!!!

the cuerrent line is dayton -3 and 135.. (seems to me the over may be the easiest way to go..

That rebounding margin makes no sense.  A look at conf stats shows both teams are pretty close in offensive, defensive, and rebounding margin.  Might be a statistical outlier, but it is quite mind-blowing.

If you look, and I haven&#x27;t, you&#x27;ll probably see that Dayton shot poorly from long range especially, hence the number of offensive rebounds reflects the poor shooting and the easier rebounds of the front of the rim. That would also explain the loss.  Going to that box score now because I&#x27;m interested to see if my guess was right.  BOL

After looking at the box score of that game, my assumption was fairly correct.  Dayton was only  6 - 20 3pt shots and 26 - 70 for the entire game.  Being  a jump shooting team the poor shooting percentage does explain the large amount of off rebounds. What isn&#x27;t so odd is that 24 off rebounds for Dayton and 24 defensive rebounds for Xavier, the big differance in the game was the low number of off rebounds by Xavier which can be explained by their high shooting percentage,  53% 3pt%, and kind of explains the win for Xavier.  Don&#x27;t know if I worded this right but the final result was all about one team shooting well and the other not.
