I am a BIG fan of that - the key is you need to set Google alerts, bookmark all relevant school, fan, and newspaper websites and read EVERYTHING written about those teams (I would choose no more than 10 teams myself). Obviously you want to be able to watch them as much as possible as well so that you know what type of effects things like injuries, road trips, and contrasting styles of play will have on the team. To do this correctly, you would need to choose 6-10 teams spread out throughout the conferences. And I would AVOID public teams and teams that are ESPN ALL THE TIME, those lines tend to be much more "sharp" than most other lines. I would select teams like North Dakota, Elon, Western Kentucky and the like. Keep us posted on what you decide.

It might be a little tough to do that just for the fact that the one of the teams your 15 teams are playing against...you might not know a thing about them and make a bad judgement call based on your knowledge of only the team that you are following

I think youare thinking correctly. But I would not pick all different teams, but maybe a conference. I try to stick with ACC/BE, A-10, Southern and a couple of other schools.
Narrowing it down is a solid idea though
