I used to only post totals and went about 33-20 or something like that with a system I was using but it wasnt flawless and I got bored with it so now I am going to post the sides that the makers think are going to win. For instance West Va -11.5 against ND the line should have been 8 tops, yet West Va won by 13. Or texas some how only being a pk at home when OU should have been -3 IMO. Basically, the makers know. So I figured I'd post picks based on who they think are going to win and keep a record for fun. Besta Luck
Wisco +8 Duke -6 Ga Tech +7 (Tech is awful and the win over WF was a fluke should be 11.5 IMO some how they know, im hoping) ILL +2.5 (Ohio State should win this game by 7 as I believe ILL is awful and has a tough time scoring (Penn State 33 points) but with that said against a team who likes to go up and down maybe they'll score more buckets in transition giving them a chance with the line being +2.5. Plus OSU just lost to NU you dont think theyre supposed to come home and smack some one in front of the home town crowd, trap right here, take ILL)

Interesting thread. Last night I was sitting at 3-4 and had the same thought, who does Vegas want us to take. Line said take SAN FRAN, I did and they won in such a ridiculous manner. I felt like I was going to win no matter what because of the outrageous line direction. Lucky for me.

Maybe I looked at it wrong and 8 is high but MSU as you know is 2 times more atheltic then Wisco and if Wisco misses some shots on the road and MSU gets out on the break 8 doesnt seem like so much anymore. And for MSU's loss, Purdue flat out can lock up teams as you can see thats why they win a good percentage of their ball games. I think this line is spot on because if the line was 5 everyone would be on MSU and they would have to hope Wisco shows up today. By making it 8 their guranteed more action on both sides and consequently not risking losing as much from one side.

Xavier -18 (Xavier losing 3 of their last 4 seem to not be playing their best basketball and Vegas wants you to side with taking George Washington and all the points theyre getting for that reason as it seems like A LOT of points to be giving when you're not playing well. Should be 14 TOPS, IMO, so take the Musketeers, I guess)

The linesmakers dont know shit, they just set lines. It's not that tough to do. If the line is off, the money will move it. It's just a market. They don't give a shit which side you take and don't know who will cover- that often comes down to a missed or made three or a few missed free throws. 40% of games fall within 5 points of the line so they are doing a good overall job of setting the lines and having the results keep both sides in it. That's all they need to do, the randomness of basketball, the hot shooting nights, the cold shooting nights, the foul trouble, etc. etc. will throw enough wrenches out there to keep everyone in check. Again, they could give a shit which side you take. Now your book might care if he's heavy one way, then he'll root for the other side, but even on the heavy one sided games he's just gotta hit a little over 40% to break even. There are some solid methods that will help you get to 58% winners and make a ton of money, but figuring out what the linesmakers want you to take is not one of them. I make lines all the time that fall almost exactly where the line comes out, and while I understand that public perception falls into the line (and I know that fading the obvious is often a good basis for a play as long as you know what exactly you are fading and why) the line is not made to trap anyone or suck you to one side or the other. That being said, good luck with your method.

Its not a method Im just doing this for fun as I bet on not one of these games just thought it would be interesting. I disagree with you that you think that dont give a shit what side you take. So when they set the OU and Texas line they didnt know everyone would take OU? If BG didnt get hurt then maybe OU would've covered because the public has to win sometimes.
And highside if OSU was supposed to win the game the line would have been much higher. For the Cuse game they were favored by a little becuase Nova is a much better team then ILL.
