East Carolina Pirates v. NC-Wilmington Seahawks (aka. Shitbirds)
ECU is very good. I have them around 70th in the nation. NC Wilmington is a top 250 team.
ECU has Morrow, a 6'8, 250lb kid who comitted to SC before the coaching change. Morrow will be the rookie of the year in Conference USA, and is coming off the bench to destroy the opposition. NC will have no answer for him on the inside.
NC has lost 4 starters and 80% of their scoring from last year. The 1 returning starter, Tomko, is their only player, scored 9ppg last year, gets 19ppg this year, but he's the only kid doing anything out there.
This game is close to ECU's campus and home court advantage will be minimal for NC.
ECU has already taken down VMI and Winthrop this season and is putting up a healthy 80 ppg. They will easily eclipse this number tonight as the Shithawks have no option but to run'n' gun against a physically dominant team. The Shithawks are giving up an average of 92 ppg so this one will be a blowout. ECU only gives up 68 ppg and while I see a higher pace than usual, NC will not be able to force turnovers, becaue VMI tried it with a full court press and much more athleticism and it did not work at all.
Hinnant (19ppg) and Legan (14ppg) are snipers and deadly from the land beyond. Brock Young is great at penetration and he adds 10 points and 8 dimes, a huge number (8!) in the college game. Previously mentioned Morrow is a man beast, came off the bench v. VMI to score 16 points in the second half and added 12 boards.
There are simply too many options on ECU and the Shithawks are out of their league in this one.
ECU 90
Shithawks 72

Should be one where you look back in February and laugh that ECU was catching points. With that said, this is a big rivalry, and UNCW has won 20 of 26 of the games played between the two in Wilmington, including the last 11. I suspect it won't come easy, but I'll ride along with the Pirates here.

Oh, and I think home court advantage will be significant, though I suspect ECU probably has 1,000 or so fans of its own there.
off topic, but, in an effort to not look like i am constantly bitching about the lack of intelligence on this site, MAINE ROAD,,,,another underrated and intelligent poster, in my opinion.

Can you see Russia from your house too? That's the same reasoning as saying "the schools arent far apart so there will be no homecourt". These schools hate each other, and their proximity only leads to a higher home court advantage, especially in a place like Trask.
I like ECU as well, I stated on my thread, they are the better team, but year in, year out, Trask is voted the toughest place to play in the CAA, up years, down years, doesnt matter. Their homecourt advantage is huge as they love to feel the teal down there. I'm laying off of that since I think ECU is a top 150 team, not top 80, and I worry about a so so team playing against that home court advantage. I completely agree with you that ECU is better, and if there is a pick to make, that's the pick, but it's a no play for me.

Maine: great point about the line if this were february. This is the kind of situation where we have an advantage, because their hands are tied.
someone else: I do know all this and have attended games (not this season) at both schools. With a solid start to the season their fans will travel down the road and the better team will feed off the energy, the shitty team will lay an egg and hopefully get booed off their home floor!
