Wake will push UNC in the ACC...Duke will not - they have been soft and will continue to be soft (we will see early how soft they are UCLA in NYC and a trip to West Lafayette)...The Ville has a veteran back court to go with maybe the only front line that can handle UNCs talent and depth...Memphis loses a lot but they were deep team last year and a deep team again this year...UConn, Pitt, and Notre Dame are ready to take the next step and make deep runs in the tourney...Not really sure if Willie Warren makes OU that much better but the Sooners have some talent, my pick to win the BigXII...Purdue should contend for a BigEleven Title, but I don't think they are as deep or talented as Michigan St...speeking of the Spartans losing Drew Neitzel might be the best thing for them (Raymar Morgan Big10 POY)...I still think G'Town is good and so is their coach...My sleeper team to do big things is Villanova...teams like Texas and Tennessee lost leaders but still have the talent to contend for league titles as well as sweet 16 births...Gonzaga is a sneaky team but haven't we seen this before hyped before they fall flat
Teams that I feel good about: Louisville, Wake Forest, Michigan St., Villanova, Arizona St., UAB
Teams that I don't feel good about: Memphis, Duke, Gonzaga, West Virginia, Wisconsin

I think that I would move Gonzaga up into the top 10, and move Wake Forest and Memphis down a few slots. Other than that, it looks good for right now.
I'll comment more later. It's getting late.
Yeah I hear you I just not really on the Bulldog band wagon.
Pargo, Bouldin, Daye, Gray, Downs, Heytveldt is really nice, but I wouldn't trade Kentucky's roster for that. I don't think when it matters they will be able to get a defensive stop.

As a Cincy fan, I would really like to think that they are a top 50 squad, but I have a tough time seeing it this season.
I like Cronin, and they bring in a very good class along with Mike Williams coming off injury, but the rest of the Big East is improving right along with them, so I have a tough time envisioning them making the leap this season.

Other than Michigan St being a little high, IMO, the rankings look pretty good.
Also you said Louisville is the only team with the depth and talent in the front court to match up with UNC. UConn is better up front than Louisville. Derek Caracter is gone which isn't that large of a blow but he was a very talented and big body.
UConn has Thabeet and Adrian up front which can match up with any front court in the country. They also have quality depth coming off the bench in Gavin Edwards and the 7' foot Mandeldove for defensive purposes. Then later in the year they will have Majok and Stanley back to strengthen the front court even more.
Dec. 12th or 17 is when Stanley and Majok will officially be part of the team.

Thanks for the hard work on the rankings.
I like Cronin a lot. I like Vaughn A LOT. It will be tough for them in a LOADED Big East, but I think the conference gets 9 in this year.

i love the cats as well bro. we are not that far away. dont be surprised to see the cats make a nice run if meeks and patterson can stay healthy and they find a cure for their PG ails. i.e. liggins, galloway, and ,gulp, porter. id love to know who u see starting for them at pg

The word is Porter is getting the nod. Billy thinks that he is the most improved player. We shall see. Either way we will need to run this year because half court points and offense in general will probably be a premium.
I really believe that UK will have a top 5 defense in the nation. A lot of LOW totals this year. Razor Ramon Harris is a big time sleeper this year. He might be the key to a very successful season. If he can put in around 10 a game and play that lock down D, we should be straight.
Starters Porter Meeks Harris Patterson Stevenson
Bench Liggins Galloway Harrellson Miller Stewart
L. Slone is a sleeper walk on. Jared Carter is terrible!
BTW Matt Pilgrim is going to be a beast next year...hopefully with Daniel Orton.

Lofton wasn't the same player at the end of last (for a good reason), J. Smith was a good leader. R. Smith, D. Crews were terrible. J. Howell was a nice role player.
Now to what they have. With Pearl's Press this team should be very tough. Two 6'7" guards JP Prince and Scotty Hopson - Scout.com #7. Probably SEC player of the year - Tylers Smith. Wayne Chism is a beast. Ryan Childress is solid off the bench. JuCo transfer Bobby Maze will probably run the point. Also Josh Tabb is a sleeper this year as he was stuck behind some pretty good guards previously.
All in all I don't think they lost enough to not make them the favorite in the SEC, so that is why I have them at 15. Maybe I am valuing the SEC a little too much, but the favorite in the SEC should be good enough to earn a 15th ranking.

I took a look at what creighton lost and I couldn't put them in...I like them though, Altman is a hell of a coach...that is why Arkansas wanted him.
Illinois St. is probably going to win the MVC, but the Valley is down this year. So if you wanted to take out Cleveland St. and put in Illinois State I wouldn't mind I think that they are about on the same level.

I'm all about the Spartans this year...as for Drew Neitzel - he wasn't really that good last year. Almost every statistical catagory was down for him including assist to turnover ratio, ppg, reb, ast, fg%, ft%, and 3pt%. They depended too much on him last year. They have the talent and depth to play to my ranking of them, but I can understand why people think that I have them rated too high.
Once again they have probably one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation. If they do well (which I think that they will), and win the Big10 (which I think that they will). They will easily be a top 4-6 team.

to go to your UK point, i agree with pretty much everything u said. i think porter will start for 10 games or so and then turn it over to galloway or liggins. (we'd be sittin pretty if that bastard jasper didnt transfer) i like the recruits as well and i think patterson will definitely stay for at least one more season after this one. im also excited to see that kid from kentucky, i think his name is Hood come in and mix with the rest of the guys.
and the one thing i def agree with is that jared carter is one of the worst big men kentucky has ever had. he is battling bernard cote for that prize. and of course "spiderman" shagari alleyne

Good Mid Range - Only a little to be desired on the defense end...but he will work his way on to the court.
I could really care less about Derrick Jasper...he was SOFT. I'm glad he left. He made terrible passing decisions with the game on the line. And if he shot, it would only be luck if it went in.

Bama is gonna be shitty until Gottfried is relieved of his duties...However i will continue to go to every home game and enjoy the pitiful coaching job

I understand that they will start the season low on the totem pole, but these are the reasons I have them so high:
Izzo has maybe the best resume the past 10 years (maybe Roy Williams)
Three solid PGs - Kalin Lucas, Korie Lucious (#7 PG - Scout.com), and Travis Walton
Two really good sophmore SGs - Durrell Summers and Chris Allen (#3 and 14 respectively - Scout.com last year)
A stud at the wing in Raymar Morgan and in my opinion POY in the Big10
Big Bodies in Marquis Gray and 5 star FR Forward Delvon Roe.
In the middle they have G. Suton and T. Herzog, two bangers.
Non-conference schedule includes:
Maryland Gonzaga or Oklahoma St. then G'Town or Tennessee North Carolina Texas Kansas
If they can do well outside of the Big Ten and then win the Conference Title outright then they will be in line for a 1 or 2 seed.
I realize that people are intitled to their own opinion, but I was just giving the reason behind why I ranked the Spartans so high.
couldnt agree more. being from east lansing there is a lot of talk about how good this team could be. its gonnga take awhile with the young kids but look for a solid big ten year in the top. Thier young guys are very talented it will be interesting to see how much time it takes them to catch up. Purdue is definitely the favorite but look for sparty to play close. Michigan will also be much improved. the have a load of three point shooters and if bielin (sp?) can get them on the same page they will upset a few people.
