LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. will defend his title against Ricky Hatton on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.
The site of the fight has not been determined, Golden Boy Promotions said Wednesday. It's a matchup of two undefeated fighters, who are a combined 81-0.
"I am extremely excited to announce Golden Boy's involvement in another boxing extravaganza such as Mayweather vs. Hatton," said Oscar De La Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions. "We are proud to continue to provide fans with the best matchups and fights in boxing today."
Mayweather (38-0 with 24 knockouts) will be fighting for the first time since his victory over De La Hoya in May.
"I am the best fighter in boxing today and I'm prepared for any challenge my team puts in front of me," Mayweather said. "And with Ricky Hatton, it's already personal. He has talked and disrespected me so much in the past months that I can't wait to get him in the ring and show him he is not even on my level."
Hatton (43-0, 31 KOs), from Manchester, England, has fought once before at 147 pounds, winning the welterweight belt from Luis Collazo in 2006. He moved back to 140 pounds and captured his third world title. His most recent victory came in four rounds against Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas in June.
"It is a dream of every boxer to fight the best boxers in the world," Hatton said. "I respect Floyd Mayweather immensely for his boxing ability and it will be an honor to share the same ring with him.
"He is rightly regarded as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. However, I am confident and determined that I will be the first boxer to beat him in the ring and I am looking forward to this fight." |

Your going to be able to get odds better than that Always if you like Hatton. He is currently at +230 or higher everywhere.

#6 Posted: 8/3/2007 10:11:32 PM For those of you who don't know, I could give a shit about either of these guys. Don't love em, don't hate em, cap em. These odds are too tall and, style wise, this is a tough fight for PBF. |

I love Mayweather and don't like Hatton. . . and I totally agree with you. TOUGH match-up. I'll probably end up taking Hatton. I might also make a trip to Vegas to go, it just occured to me today I don't have anything scheduled for Dec 8th since CFB will be done and I can go lay a bunch of bowl money out there
Always, I'm trying to get MB to post this market ASAP. If you get in early, you can put all you want on Hatton +250 and the Mayweather bettors will probably eat it up on the other side. |

Mayweather will woop Hattons ass straight up, no lie. If you put all your money on Hatton, you gonna be a broke kid. I've seen PBF at $1.50 and some places at $1.38. Decent value for a p4p champion.

#16 Posted: 11/5/2007 2:26:43 AM pThrough parlays I've already got $910 to win $1300 on Floyd and will probably have a bit more come Dec. 8. I've got friends that already have many thousands on Floyd. The only reason he's not at -400 is because of England's fierce loyalty hyping him up.

#19 Posted: 11/8/2007 9:31:44 PM They said Taylor was to fast and strong for Pavlik and we see what happened there, I can see the same thing happening here. Hatton is a tough fighter and will give Mayweather alot to handle. Put your money on Hatton. |

#21 Posted: 11/20/2007 2:40:32 AM This line seems very, very, very trappy. "On paper," there is no question that PBF is better:
1) More experience in big matches.
2) Home turf.
3) Big reach advantage.
5 Dimes has these:
PBF Win (DNB) -235
PBF Decision +104
PBF Inside 12 +372
That -235 won't be enough to really scare peeps looking for PBF action. Most won't have too much trouble taking on that type of chalk for a routine 20-100 rock win. Yeah, peeps looking to win several stacks may get scared off, but the casual bettor won't be run off with that type of line.
All the above makes me think that this line could be a HUGE trap being sprung by Vegas.
Glad this thing is 2.5 weeks away, cause this line seems very, very trappy, indeed. Need time to think. |

#22 Posted: 11/20/2007 10:12:57 AM This isn't a trap. The odds are where they should be. Hatton's a live dog, but Mayweather should win this I think. Britian and Europe in general are fiercely loyal. Not much money from Europe will be going on Mayweather. Not to mention people who love betting live dogs from America.

#23 Posted: 11/20/2007 10:37:55 AM Yeah, Snippets. The line isn't necessarily a trap (bad vocabulary on my part), but it isn't high enough to keep money in Vegas from coming in on Floyd.....as in, Vegas has no problem being on the Hatton side. Neither do I, either.
PBF, I believe, will get hurt early on. Now can Hatton finish from there? That I don't know, but I am positive Hatton is going to be winning early on, so got to side with the dog in that type of situation. |

#24 Posted: 11/20/2007 12:47:33 PM I think it might be the other way around....Especially if Hatton goes all out, he's going to be wide open for Floyd's counters... We'll see I guess in a couple weeks. I wouldn't be TOO surprised if Hatton won but my money's on Floyd for sure.

#25 Posted: 11/20/2007 2:26:35 PM A lot can change between now and Dec 8, but if the match were tonight, then I'd be on Ricky Hatton, for sure.
Time will tell, as it always does, |
