This is such a tough match to call, and I'll be wagering much more on the women's final. But I've been watching the lines today at a few different books to try and gauge what the sharps might think. Fed's price has been as high as -320 and as low as -280. I haven't seen Djokovic far from +230 or +240. This may seem like an enticing price to back the world's #1, but make sure you're doing it for the right reasons.
Novak is in excellent form. He has made Hewitt and Ferrer look like completely ordinary guys. Even though he appeared to limp to the finish line against Ferrer, I strongly disagree with those who feel fitness will be a factor. Federer doesn't wear guys down physically. He won't have to play many 20 shot rallies, but when he has to, he'll be able to do it. I really believe the longer rallies will favor Nole tonight. He has all the tools of the guys who have upset Federer: a big serve, attacking style, and a heavy heavy backhand. He has the ability to open Federer up in cross-court backhand exchanges, and then hit winners down the line.
The greatest challenge to Novak will be to mentally believe he can beat Fed on this stage. The good news for him is he knows he's done it once before on a smaller stage. Federer has never looked this vulnerable at a hard court slam (being extended to 5 sets in the 3rd round, having angry outbursts with the chair) and I give Novak a real chance to win. He has all the tools, and, I believe, finally he has the belief. This surface has played well for the attacking, big hitters, and if Fed doesn't take chances early in points, he's simply going to get beat. I'm going to fade greatness tonight, but I do so with the understanding that Roger is the greatest at making adjustments under fire, and he seems to always do just enough to pull through in a match-up such as this.
I see it as an even match up, so I'll be taking around +260 for 1 unit. I'm also looking at Djokovic 1st set and Djokovic in 4 sets. I would caution guys looking at Federer in 5 sets. If he wins this match, I think it'll be Novak not rising to the occasion, and that means 3-0 to me. I would love to have someone talk me out of this in the next several hours, so let's get it going. Somebody let me know...

i already got 600 on novak...im about to drop another 400 once the line changes...he can upset him because he posses the skill and the talent but not the mentality. i saw the match with blake and god (fed), and he was not looking like he was in top shape. im craving some late night action and fed as a -300 range fav is REALLY REALLY weird...also im still in AWE over that tsonga match last night....float like a butterfly sting like a beeeeee thats what he did last night!

GREAT WRITE UP, BUT..ONE THING YOU DO HAVE TO LOOK AT IS INDEED HIS FITNESS...
ITS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH FEDERER MAYBE WEARING HIM DOWN, FEDERER MAKES A 3 SET TB WIN LOOK EASY, BUT NOVAK PLAYS SO ROUGH AND SO TOUGH, EVEN IN A 3 SETTER SUCH AS HIS WONDERFUL DISPLAY VERSUS FERRER, COME 3RD SET, THAT BOY WAS JUST BEGGING TO GET OFF THE COURT
HIS BREATHING PROBLEMS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THERE, I REMEMBER HIS FINAL IN UMAG A FEW YEARS BACK WHEN HE RETIRED I BELIEVE AS HE LED IT, HE HAS ALWAYS HAD THESE PROBLEMS. THE GUY CANT CATCH BREATH LIKE A FAT GUY WHO JOGS FOR 5 MINUTES, HE SERIOUSLY HAS SOME PHYSICAL FITNESS TO WORK OUT. IF YOU CATCH THE END IN ALL HIS MATCHES, WATCH HOW HE WAS JUST BARELY GETTING DONE. FEDERER KNOWS WHEN TO PUT THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, AND IF HE FEELS HE DOESNT NEED TO TAKE IT OFF, HE WONT
I DO HOPE YOU ALL GET THE WIN, BUT FEDERER WINS THIS IN 4, WITH NOVAK TAKING THE FIRST IMO WITH THAT EARLY BREAK

I don't dispute that there is some sort of fitness issue Novak has. I just can't see it being a determining factor. If this thing goes 5, I think mentally, Fed will have him dominated. It's almost like trying to beat your dad in tennis for the first time, until you've finally done it, you just don't really believe it can be done. But if Djok is playing as I believe he can, he can get off the court in 4 tight sets, struggling to the finish or not.
Novak should believe that eventually he's going to get him, so it's not an Andy Roddick sort of comprehensive domination he must overcome. This match looks to be so so close, and I think we should see some incredible tennis.

i agree with you letmespin...the talent sure is there...fitness is not so good on novaks side...but linemakers seem to believe that it will be a close one with novak squeezing it out...does anyone remember the odds from their previous matches?

novaks gameplane should include moving fed all around...keeping the enforced errors to a minimum... finishing shots with his backhand...
if novak slips from the first set, its gg...im going to bed if he doesnt win the first set...if the odds were at +350 novak..i would not have touched it...

great w/u...see i knew you could do it! agree with you too.
this whole tourney is about the dog.
why be afraid? djokovic has beaten him before and he had to beat nadal to beat him as well. i would be afraid laying $2700 to win $1000 taking federer. why be afraid when you get paid extra to put up your own money.
the way tsonga played yesterday - i don't know if roger wants to play him. i took tsonga today at +355 to win it all. i don't want to risk getting a lower number and wait for his opponent. just as we saw it so did the bookmaker and i just don't see tsonga's line being worse than +355 at what i got it for. there would be too much money going on tsonga if he were say +400 hell i would become a bookie or play scamdicapper and call all my friends to take that action.
djokovic has the speed to pull this off. roger hits lots of unforced errors especially his many backhands burning into the net on easy shots. roger looks like the king of tennis only cuz his court is full of jesters who are simply not world class.
roger goes down or is made to look human either tonight or the final match. either way the gap on him looking superior is closed.

Burley, I agree completely. Djokovic and Tsonga are both very live dogs. There's no way in hell I'd lay that kind of chalk in such a close match up. The key for me is heavy backhands cross-court to break down Fed's backhand.
MM that's a lot of coin bro, pulling for us. Wow, only an hour away...

the way roger is playing i would keep feeding him slow deep shots to his backhand. roger gets bored and doesn't like the long rallies. he then will burn the ball into the net. i think keep the ball in play and roger just will do an unforced error. any play that allows roger to be on the run is when he is best. he can hit the most miraculous shots when it looks bleak for him
