Still some good value picks out there as we get closer to the French Open main draw.
Some tough breaks yesterday - Zaja loses after serving for the match in the second set and Amandine Hesse is up 4-1 to Peng and just completely falls apart. Such is WTA tennis.
I think value is again on underdogs in these tournaments. Not officially picking these players yet, but check them out in your capping for spreads, set lines, and moneylines and find where the value is
ATP
Kuznetsov +110
Strong server, very complete game. Ramos-Vinolas has played a lot of tennis lately and has a good chance to run deep at the French. Motivation may be questionable.
Stebe +290
Tipsarevic is having a great run on clay, but Stebe looked really good against Struff, while Tipsarevic played Ryan Harrison who isn't very good on clay.
Zverev +190
I doubt Big John Isner is that interested in winning this tournament. He was surprisingly strong in Rome, but usually he plays the most apathetic tennis of anyone on the tour. Zverev might be an undervalued clay court player. It isn't usually his surface, but he's been hanging tough lately.
Chung +145
Biggest value in my opinion. Berdych has been garbage lately and does he really care about winning this tournament? Chung has beaten a lot of really good clay players lately and took Nadal to a tie break at a time when Rafa was peak Nadal-ing. If Chung comes out hot, I think Berdych concedes this match to him.
WTA
Doi +120
Doi's been looking stronger on clay lately. Dodin is a straight up ball basher with no variety in her shots. Will have to look harder at this one.
Witthoeft +161
I really like Carina's game. She isn't a known name because she plays a lot of under the radar tournaments, but she's really, really solid when locked in. Goerges has some nagging injury issues and she's been playing a lot of tennis recently. A look at the spread here might be worthwhile.
Wickmayer +170
Mostly because I find Putinsteva to be extremely annoying. She was bad against Julia Glushko, who shouldn't have even been playing in this round if not for Eugenie withdrawing. Couldn't hold serve for anything. Glushko is a weak player, especially on serve herself, so Putintseva snuck by her, but Wickmayer will present a bigger challenge.
Rogers +108
Don't forget this girl made the quarters at the French Open last year and had a deep run at Charleston this year. She's sneaky good on clay and Wang is an up and down player.
Giorgi -110
Obviously. Vesnina was having a horrid year on clay, but the way Giorgi bounced back against her and absolutely decimated her was impressive. I'm not that big on Barty on clay. I think she's more of a hard court player.
So there you have it...still looking at some totals and whatnot. I like a lot of overs to hit in men's...see some potential three setters there. Also Stan will probably win in Geneva, so backing him in a parlay is always a good bet.
