I have some futures for the weekend -> https://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=38&sub=101224847
I know I should just wait and see what happens with those, but Nadals form in the tournament has really surprised me. I didn't think he body would hold up for a 2 week tournament and besides the Berdych match, he hasn't really been tested.
There is only one play tomorrow. Nadal +125. The past fews years Federer's standards haven't dipped that much. The problem is his mental frailty the past 3-4 years once Nadal shattered his 'aura' of invincibility. He has had golden opportunities to beat Djocker at the US Open the past two years. Wimbledon final 2008, Aussie open final 2009, two matches Federer could have beaten Nadal but didn't. Fed's last great victory was against Djoker in Paris. He was in a great spot there. No pressure (Djoker on the win streak) and he showed he has still got amazing talent. He is favourite again tomorrow and the pressure is back on. I expect his mental frailities of the past two years, will come back to haunt him in this match.
People are focusing on Federer's form at the end of the year and the start of this year. Djoker and Nadal mentally had checked out by the time the ATP championships came in London. Federer took advantage of this. His physique means he is a tennis phenomenon. He is a perfect tennis play in terms of physique. How often is the guy injured? Think about it. He is always the strongest player at the end of a seaon. Federer is still an awesome player and that is why has has blitzed the field so far. However against the two best players in the world he is now falling behind. Especially in the mental game. Strong mentality is the key in tennis. Murray is as good as these guys talent wise, but his frailty on the mental side keeps letting him down. Berdych had Nadal on the ropes and missed an easy volley to go 2 sets up. When it comes to mental toughness Nadal/Djoker are light years ahead of the rest. Del Petro will be a major force, but it takes years to gert back to elite level when you havent played on tour. Once Del P gets that big win he is going to be tough to beat every tournament.
I mean Nadal had an awesome year last year. Winning the French and two other Grand slam finals. I think he lost 6 or 7 finals to Djoker last season. Yet Federer is the -165 fav! Based on a finish to a season after the big two mentally checked out. Nadal and Djoker were heads and shoulders above everyone last season. I have seen nothing so far this season to make me think things have changed drastically. The wrong player is favoured tomorrow. This should be a pickem or Nadal a slight favourite. It's rare you get a deal from the books. Take the mentally tougher player. Even if it loses, you know you will get value for your money with Nadal (injury free of course)..

Very good insight, I think you make a good point about the value being on Nadal here. Of course, who cares abouve value if the guy playing better wins in the hand (see Ferrer last night, which was definitely a good value bet).
Tough call! I think my money will probably be on Rafa as well, though.

Nadal is just too tough for Roger..Fed needs to be in the net alot more but against Rafa he goes into his shell. You saw there when the breaker was over he relaxed and looked like he could own Rafa. The problem is Rafa just doesn't relent and the pressure builds on Fed. Eventually Roger wilts and Rafa imposes himself on him.
Any 3 out of 5 set match on ANY surface ALWAYS bet Rafa against Roger. +135 was a gift..

Hey Mack05, I know your here off and on. Huge fan of your tennis boxing post, was wondering if you have a twitter.
Thanks mate. I don't really use twitter. I just post my picks here. I don't post on the tour events because (as you see from my analysis) I look into the physcology behind my picks..Physcology (especially in men's tennis) really comes into play in the majors...Ib Boxing most fights are won in the mind..These are the sports I do best in, but the NFL this year (search my picks) I have been killing it..

Delpo I am on Djoker (see link above) and I have Murray +600 as well so I won't be adding any more plays. I would still edge towards Djoker for the same reasons I went for Nadal here. I haven't seen anything to make me think Nadal is going to reverse recent trends.
People backing Nadal you are always getting value for money, but until he beats Djoker in a final (and it could be Sunday) I have to side with the player that beat him in 6 finals last year..Assuming Djoker gets there that is. I think Murray shows up tomorrow..
