#1 Posted: 5/29/2012 11:54:36 AM The Tour stops off in Ohio this week for The Memorial or "Jack's Tournament" as some like to call it. His track's are always tough, but fair. This year will be no different. One key factor this week is Driving Accuracy. 7 out of the last 8 winners were Top 10 in accuracy for the week. Got to hit it straight to have a chance. GIR's and Par 5 performance are also key stats this week. And as always, being an above average putter will take you a long ways. |

Yes it is!
Last years putting average was 1.735 (6th easiest on TOUR)....BUT putting from inside 10 ft., Muirfield was the 8th most difficult track last year.
Now explain that one? |

#4 Posted: 5/29/2012 2:05:38 PM 19th toughest track on tour almost the middle of the pack this place can be had by most...you must hit it long and straight.. it does putt easy..weather may be a factor if its hot can be miserable for some reason. The same types play well here year after year but they have added some yardage few years back I think its 7200 +.Look for a mid westerner to jump out here..might be a good spot for Stricker. |

Now explain that one? HMMMM. I can give you my opinion. There are not many 3 putts (Therefore keeps average low.) And also it seems like guys either hit it close or miss the green. I dont know a whole lot about this place really except I believe driving accuracy is a bit overrated and look for the guy that plays the par 5's the best to win. |

He's got a good shot....it seems like the "Steady Eddy" golfer wins or does really well here. Besides Eldrick, winners include Stricker, Rose, Perry, Choi, Pettersson, Els, Furyk, VJ and Freddy.
They all have something in common....gold star for who can name the common thing??? |

Didn't think about Bubba being back, it was more of Furyk playing well again and the course fitting his game well. Is Bubba ready? How much "work" did he actually do on his time off?
I did think that way with Dustin and Ogilvy has been making progress lately, getting ready for the US Open. First competive round for Dustin since March. Who knows? It's play the other guy or no play I guess. |

#12 Posted: 5/29/2012 10:06:55 PM This spring has been unusually hot and dry in the area. I haven't talked to anyone that's been over there yet this week, but it wouldn't surprise me if the rough is not nearly what it's been in years past. That may put a little less of a premium on fairways and a little more on length. One thing is for sure, you've got to make your money on the par 5's here. |

Just looking through the matchups and he popped out to me. Didn't know much about Grace until now. They both have wins on the Euro Tour and their stats are identical and tops in some major categories. I may go along with you now! Why do you like him A LOT?
And I know you like Furyk over Bubba because of your deep rooted hatred for Bubba...right? |

Muirfield has always been considered a tough test. Some feel it should host a US Open. It has length, tight fairways, fast undulating greens and a garbage load of bunkers guarding the greens. And just with ANY Open, hitting the fairways is a must...low rough or not. |

19th toughest on 2010, with perfect weather conditions....but for several years before that it ranked in the top 10 every year.
Stricker has been too quiet lately and thats scary!!
Good luck this week |

#16 Posted: 5/30/2012 12:42:25 AM why no love for Tiger? I'm thinking of putting a bill on him at 14:1
He used to own this tournament. I know key word is "used to". But I think he could dominate here. Again key word "could".
Best of luck

#17 Posted: 5/30/2012 12:46:04 AM Not high on Stricker this week for multiple reasons, like you said quiet lately, only 1 top 10 in 12 tries here. And being the defending champion at some courses seem to be a heavy burden on these guys.
I like going against DJ this week also , HUGE QUESTION MARK, (upside for him he shoots 4-5 under and makes cut, downside is he shoots 78-WD) also especially with someone that loves this course.
My early bets were Moore -150 over Blixt for 3 units and Byrd-130 over Crane 3u.
best of luck guys

#18 Posted: 5/30/2012 8:58:08 AM Pretty good discussion here.
First of all I love the form Grace is in and I think that he has won multiple times over there? (Some may have been in South Africa) He also tends to dominate the par 5's when he is playing good. Thats a must here.
MrBogey I like Moore this week but to lay that kinda chalk against a guy in good form is tough Also I saw silly stat where Stricker is like 5 for 6 in top 15's while defending. |

He's just an average golfer now if you ask me....
He's going to have to win some more...have some Top 10's and show me he's back (at least close to what he used to be) before I bet on him again. |

Tough call on Dustin...could go either way. Hard track to come back to after a long lay-off. It's not like this is the old Bob Hope tournament or something. It's friggin Muirfield! This is as close as it gets to being a US Open venue. Got to ride Ogilvy in that one!
I like Moore too...but not against Blixt. Ya, Blixt is a rookie and this is his first look at Muirfield, but the guy is just flat out playing really well right now. He played well at the Nelson and the Colonial, both course's have a lot in common with the Memorial as far as hitting tight fairways goes. |
