My book has odds on the English Premier League and the odds for teams outside the "Big 6" (M.City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tott and Pool) are 100:1 or higher.
Do any of the other 20 or so teams have a shot? From early action so far, it looks like most of the big 6 teams are vulnerable.
Which of the Premiership teams outside the big 6 have a puncher's chance to win it? Newcastle? Everton? Fulham? Swansea?

Newcastle look great and should finish in top 6, maybe even top 4 by season's end. Everton is a possible team if they can get a good run of results throughout. They don't really have strength/quality in depth as far as their squad goes and with injuries etc, they could take their toll on these kind of lower budget teams. This is why most teams tend to start off with good results but then kind of slide towards the business end of the season, which is where the so-called "big 6" have the advantage with bigger squads full of good players, like United and Man City for example.
So, of all the teams, I'd say Newcastle have a good chance. GL.

PS. Don't be fooled by the early action so far. Some smaller teams tend to come out the box quicker than others, so to speak, and the bigger teams take a while to click into gear, like Man United for example, and Arsenal and Tottenham. This is mostly because they've been nothing but bums for a few weeks with the summer break and also because of new players joining the team. It takes a while for them to get an understanding and get fully match fit and sharp for the long season ahead. GL.

yeah those are sucker bets, like buying a powerball ticket, just look at the history throughout the years new castle has 0 chance, some of those teams will start out great early and even tease u but to keep it up for 9 months and win the league title like i said powerball ticket

I personally think if arsnel dosent make any more moves then they will have a really disappointing season. As for anyone outside of the top 6 winning, no way, some teams might surprise like Newcastle and everton and make top 6 but no way a winner.

And by the way - Newcastle is the top 6. Don't be fooled by the books that Liverpool is one of the top 6, they're not. Newcastle is head and shoulders above them. The problem is that Liverpool not only have loyal fans but they are overhyped every year, hence their shorter odds.

Only thing to be scared of is their European responsibilities this year. How seriously will they take the Europa League? They are definitely the best team of the so-called bottom 14 teams though.

I'd be more confident in betting on Everton, a team that consistently finishes in the top 8 or 10, than Newcastle who had one remarkable season and now has to contest in the Europa League. The Europa League can cause a serious hindrance on domestic league form.

Also, Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse, the two prolific goalscorers for Newcastle will be out for at least a month due to the African Cup of Nations in January.

The Premiership belongs to Manchester City. They're the best team by far so the rest of the teams are playing for Champion's League spots. Chelsea will finish second. Manchester United is the most overrated team in the league. They'll finish third or fourth but it will be an ugly season. They're a slow team with no creativity in midfield and have a shaky goalie who will give up a soft goal every few games. When you have no offense, you can't overcome soft goals.

Nick... couldn't agree more. I would venture to play a small "what the hell" bet on Chelsea to win the league title. They will most certainly be adding another talent or two through transfer and who knows... perhaps City endures a couple of injuries and is upset a couple of times.

Gotta agree that its an all Manchester battle for the title. Chelsea will battle for a CL spot with Arsenal, Spurs, and Newcastle but won't be anywhere near the title in my opinion. Their inability to create the brute goals (a la Drogba) this year will be their ultimate downfall. They'll have plenty of big wins but that'll be accompanied by too many 0-0 games where they fail to break down a team parking the bus.
