Playing online roulette for the first time, Brett, 32, placed a number of bets on and around Black 17, which is worn by Portuguese winger and Old Trafford favourite Nani.
In total the lucky lifelong Reds fan hit the number 17 eight times. The payout makes Brett one of the biggest ever winners on Betfair Casino.
Brett, a retail buyer from Plymouth, is planning to use the money to pay off his mortgage, go on an exotic holiday and treat his nine-month-old son.
He said: “I couldn’t believe it at first and, to be honest, it still hasn’t sunk in. I’m going to put the money to good use, clear the mortgage and put some away for my lad.
“But first off I think I’m going to treat the family to a holiday, I quite fancy Antigua.”
Manchester United’s Nani said: “I’ve scored some great goals for the club in the number 17 shirt and I’m pleased it’s brought Brett so much good fortune.”
