#12 Posted: 9/29/2010 9:07:52 AM Maryland DWI (driving while impaired), while a lesser offense to a Maryland DUI (driving under the influence) still has very harsh consequences, including a driver's license suspension of up to 60 days, 8 points on the Maryland Driver's License record, up to $500 and two months in jail for a first offense, and up to $500.00 and one year in jail for a second offense.

#15 Posted: 9/29/2010 9:17:56 AM Very unfortunate news indeed P.... for both or you and your daughter...Not one to give advice, but I do have a little experience in this area....Hire the best and put your best foot forward between now and your court date (especially as it relates to the community) ...the judge will be looking for one thing only when making a decision...remorse, intent, and desire to rehab...keep this is mind and align yourself now to anything related to your community and how you can add value as a solid citizen between now and your hearing date.....sounds corny I know.... but it does hold true...Get involvedI wish you nothing but the best

#17 Posted: 9/29/2010 9:22:42 AM P, been following your picks a while, don't post much cause i ain't no expert at any of this, can't offer any opinion. but as a recovering alcoholic (sober since feb. 1986), i can offer advice on this. i ain't saying you're an alcoholic, but if alcohol is causing you a problem, that step is not very far away. one thing i did learn while recovering, and will never forget: people won't do things to help themselves. you have to find a reason to help yourself, and a good starting point is your daughter. don't do it for yourself, do it for her. good luck, man. |

#21 Posted: 9/29/2010 9:26:31 AM Damn P!
I can read people pretty well...even over this internet stuff. You seem to be a good dude. Always helping people and answering questions...even when the questions have obvious answers.
I try to remind myself that good things happen to good people. I believe that you will be fine...no matter what the outcome is. I just said a prayer for you and your fam.

#23 Posted: 9/29/2010 9:30:04 AM p, takes guts to put this out here on the Forum bro...
You'll make it thru this. It will sting, but things will work out.
Just keep reminding yourself that today is the first day of the rest of your life...good decisions from here on out...
DUI's are all over the media here in LA after the guy who broadsided and killed the Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and 2 others was found guilty of 2nd degree murder...sentencing in december...minimum 55 yrs.
be glad nothing like that happened. good luck p |
