This has nothing to do with oil , Venezuela, or Syria, ... and has everything to do with short-circuiting any attempts by Putin to re-starting relations.
Detox,... your belief that the U.S. controls oil is nauseating. We have already beat this to death in the Investing forum. OPEC !! OPEC !!, and OPEC !!. And no, the Cartel is not controlled by Washington, either.
Supply and Demand Fundamentals rule out over any of your creative imagination desires. . Just let it go.

This is all Completely False. Your imagination gets the better of you again..
The fact that the U.S. has nearly doubled its output in the last five years (5 mbpd --> 9 mbpd), and the slowing growth of China has more to do with the drop than anything... But let's not get in the way of facts, right ? lol..
I know you'd rather read something else, but the WSJ confirms what has happened recently, particularly in the last 6 months, when Oil has dropped almost 50%. Pipe made good reference of this in the other thread you'll know well ; the U.S. has imported much less oil recently, because of all the new oil now being produced in this country. What does this mean ?? Well, Nigeria was a big oil importer to the U.S. as the WSJ article pointed out, and now they are left shipping their oil tankers to other countries, like India & China... which just so happens to be the "turf" that Saudi Arabia is trying to protect. Make sense now ? The supplier are fighting tooth & nail to hold their own shipping market. i.e. we have a surplus of oil with decreasing /stagnating demand.
Saudi Arabia has been burned before, and will not decrease its output , only to find the other OPEC weasels (or any other supplier such as Nigeria) steal its business.
It's a bitter game right now, and Saudi Arabia has the wherewithal to win in the end . Output will continue unabated, until someone blinks and cuts output.
Now , what were you talking about before ? !
It's really helpful to put facts behind your posts.

I can't point out to you again how wrong you are.
Go re-read my post again.. and understand that Putin is on the A*SS end of the stick when it comes to supply/demand fundamentals.
He , and many other emerging nations that depend on oil for their economic success, and getting the Sh*T end of the stick !!
