Here it is important not to confuse God with religion, for many terrible things have been done in the name of religion and in the name of God. Yet God exists far beyond all of these things—far beyond human error, far beyond human imagination, far beyond human invention and far beyond human corruption.
Yet the totality of God remains forever beyond the concepts of the intellect, beyond all human inventions and beyond all individual and collective philosophies. For what set of ideas and concepts can contain a God of the Greater Community, God who is the author of countless races of beings in the Universe, all unique and different from one another in so many ways?

The hypothesis that a group of astrophysicists, microbiologists, and, anthropologists could figure out God is a laughable one.
I do believe in God 100% and would never proclaim otherwise under any circumstances. I would also never try to tell someone else that whatever they believe, or don't believe is wrong.
Why are non believers so obsessed with trying to convince others that God does not exist?
Maybe they are really just trying to convince themselves.

I feel the same. I'm 100% atheist but I would never feel contempt for somebody for believing in God.
I think that arrogant loud-mouth atheists on their high horse are some of the most annoying people around.

Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
I don't like people that believe in a book that preaches that and then judges poor people that receive assistance. If you claim that you believe in God, your actions should match your words. From what I've seen in my life, their actions rarely match their words. That alone has been a major turnoff for me. As a whole, people that claim to be religious, are the most judgmental people in the world. I think that God should be a personal journey and the results should be attractive to others. There should be very little need of promotion.

Do you really think they are trying to figure out "God"? WTF
Oh I see, you saw the words "god particle" and thought they named it that.
God was an idea created by man to fill in gaps of uncertainty. Religion was borne out of it to help control the masses, create influence and amass power over their fellow man. One hell of an idea really. Gotta hand it to em.
Imagine having a consciousness and wandering around this planet tens of thousands of years ago like our ancestors did, when death was an everyday occurrence...imagine how they would cope with that. Just stop and think about it for a little a bit...
That warm and comforting feeling you have when you pray to "God" originates from our temporal lobes. That's right, they have pinpointed where in the brain spiritual feelings originate from. Imagine the power that feeling would have over mankind tens of thousands of years ago? Just think about that for awhile...Funny how it went from worshiping objects to fighting wars over who's God would be boss. One true God! You Betcha!
The reality is, we don't have a fu$king clue about much of anything when it comes to our natural world, the universe and the reality we perceive. Even cast iron laws of physics are being challenged on a regular basis as we gain more knowledge.
We are all specs of star dust and more insignificant than we can possibly imagine. Their very well may be a creator of some sort, but you can bet big money nobody on this planet has clue who or what it is, or if its anything at all..
What about all the billions of human beings who lived and died thousands of years before our modern day religions even existed? They burning deep down below because they just had bad timing in when they entered this world?

A law-abiding man was being tailgated by a stressed-out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.
The tailgating woman hit the brakes, then the roof, and the horn, screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection with him. As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer.
The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.
He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping the guy off in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Follow Me to Sunday School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk. Naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car."

Trying to use the random chaotic "evil" things that happen in this world as a way to disprove god is both silly and infantile.
Would a person suggest that if a group of children endure hardships and endless suffering and illness and even death after they reach adult hood that the "parents" do not exist because they do not reach out a "hand" to intervene at every turn of events in their life?
Is it possible that does not have to exist within the human comprehension and/or have to fill all infantile human expectations to exist as well?
