Been a few years since I have gone to a major league event and walked up to buy tickets. However the last time I went to the Braves games, they had tickets that you could buy. Many places will have tickets available and some might be good that they gave out to local businesses that weren't given out.

Baseball by far the best value. You may be able to obtain a ticket for $20 or less. Factoring in one concession per person, that's about another $30. Your looking at a minimum orotund $120 for a regular season baseball game, for football, double that.

In my younger days between sneaking in or into better seats, I would attend meany sporting events. As a grown man I have minimal desire to go. I far more enjoy a good home atmosphere.

Agreed.
With the way games are televised and the wealth of information on the internet, you just get a far better experience on the couch at home.
On a slight side note, it seems that a lot of these new stadiums and arenas these days lack the atmosphere and character that made the previous ones great. I'm a pretty young guy so maybe the old hands can chime in on that. I just remember going to Maple Leaf Gardens back in the day and it always felt like a magical, surreal experience. Now it almost feels like a chore.

I live about a .5 mile from UT longhorns stadium and have a 6 year old. She loves going down to catch the scene and watch the people then we find a tv somewhere at a tailgate to watch. Accomplishes a lot, especially for my daughter, and runs me about $20 - $75 depending on what we choose to do (eat there, how much beer I purchase, does she get a gift etc...).

OK so in November I'm goIng to New York with the wife and 2 teenage sons. I see the Knicks playing the Celtics at the Garden. I walk up to the ticket window to purchase 4 tickets to the game. What should I expect?
Some scenarios:
A. The lady at the ticket window will say go down the street. take a left, enter Macys store, go to the 5th floor eletronics dept and watch it on TV. or
B The lady punches out 4 tickets and says "that will be $3500,00 plus tax. or
C THE WINDOW WILL BE CLOSED EXCEPT FOR ADVANCED TICKET SALES. or
D The lady will punch out 4 tickets costing me $300 for foul line seats close enough to see Melos sweat dripping from his chin when he is taking a foul shot. or

I haven't been to a Dolphins game this season or last, but I recall in 2012 it was a cool $40 just for basic parking.
And if you got kids, then souvenirs become part of the equation too.
Took my sons to Wrestlemania a few years back. Was about $200 total for the 3 of us. But they had a great time, bought them championship belts, and they still talk about it to this day. You can't put a price tag on the memories when time is so sensitive.

That close to DKR? Do you work for UT? I graduated from Texas State University down the road in San Marcos---but have tons of friends in Austin and that graduated from UT.

Went to the Mariners/A's game Saturday night..........$15/parking (just a couple blocks from Safeco).........about $40 per ticket for lower level seats down by left field foul pole........about $7/beer & $12.50 for Don Julio shots @ Edgars inside the stadium...........$8.50 for burger & fries......
.........& heartburn watching the M's drop one to A's in 10 innings.

Mugg-Was up at Safeco in June, beautiful park. My cousin's husband has had tickets for M's, Seahawks and UW for many yrs.His tickets are down in that triangular corner right by the LF foul pole. He's got it down to a science (parks about 2-3 blocks east of Safeco (free parking right outside of a event parking lot), knows where to get the autographs, best BP ball areas and bullpen warmup balls.

Worst seat in the house (no chance of getting a ticket at the window): $85 reg season, $125 playoffs
Parking: $75 for premium, $20 if you don't mind walking about a half mile
Concessions: $8 beer, $5 soda/water, $5 to $20 food depending on what you want
Souvenir: $15 minimum
If I'm paying for only myself, I spend at least $225. Usually closer to $300, especially for playoff games. Hopefully Heinz Field will host one of those sometime in the near future so I can do it again...

How much for a family of 4 to attend a pro football, baseball, basketball or hockey game?
Can you walk up to the window and buy tickets or doesn't that happen anymore?
Name some stadiums or arenas where you can walk up to the window and buy decent tickets at face value.
These days there's no reason to "walk up to a window" and pay the price written on the ticket. Go to Stub Hub and see what other fans are selling them for. That's the real market. There's plenty of bargains on tickets. For baseball-there's always plenty of tickets under face value-depending on the team & where you want to sit. Football is the toughest. Hockey & basketball during the regular season-there are plenty of tickets under face value.

Once again.. beautiful park and city -- Go A's
We were in that section (150) about half way down........good seats for the price. It's fun down there but I don't go as much as I used to since I live 40 miles north of downtown.
