Before the Affordable Care Act became law in 2010, President Obama promised Americans they could keep their healthcare plan if they liked it. But already hundreds of thousands of citizens are receiving notification that their plans are being cancelled because they don't comply with the new law, and, according to NBC News, the Obama administration has known for at least three years the cancellations were coming.
While campaigning for health care reform in 2009, Obama went out of his way to make one thing perfectly clear: if you like your current health care plan, you will be able to keep it.
On June 15, 2009, Obama said this: "We will keep this promise to the American people. If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your healthcare plan, you will be able to keep your healthcare plan. Period.”
In 2012, he echoed that sentiment, saying, "“If [you] already have health insurance, you will keep your health insurance.”
However, many are finding that not to be the case. More than 300,000 cancellation notices have been sent out in Florida, according to Kaiser Health News, and another 180,000 in California. In New Jersey, the number of cancellations tops 800,000, the Star-Ledger reports.
According to NBC News, approximately 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million Americans who buy their health insurance individually should expect to receive a cancellation letter over the next year "because their existing policies don’t meet the standards mandated by the new health care law."

Ever notice when something about Obamacare comes out negative they always call it the affordable care act?
This guy is a turd of epic proportions. Intentionally lying to the American people should start the impeachment process but it won't. I think the other politicians are afraid if Biden ever became president.
I heard 'the turd' will be flying into Boston tomorrow. I hope if he goes to the game he gets booed like there is no tomorrow. But then again the folks in the most liberal state will probably be holding each others willies talking on their Obama phones!

Probably because that's the name of the act. And trust me, I'm not on board as to how this is being rolled out. But facts are facts....what would you like them to call it?

Hopefully you're bright enough to realize that he was suggesting that when it is being praised and talked up, it is referred as "obamacare" and when the obvious problems rear their head, it is known as ACA. You've given us all cause for pause though.

John Roberts called it a tax and that's why he gave it a pass via Constitution. If it really was just Obamacare,it wouldn't have passsed muster with that Supreme retard.

It's been called "Obamacare" and the "Affordable Healthcare Act" all over the place. In fact, FOX has called it Obamacare most of the time because they want to attach it to him. Every republican in my office calls it "Obamacare" and has since the get go.

The lemmings here in this political sewer will be out cheering the liar-in-chief in droves tomorrow. They can't help themselves. They vote for the same corrupt losers year after year. Then the politicians screw them year after year, but they never learn.
In the event the NSA and/or IRS have nothing better to do, the poster of the above message is an imposter; or recently deceased.

So let me get this straight. If you have insurance currently but it FAILS TO MEET the minimum requirements required by the Affordable Care Act, to obtain the minimum levels required by the law folks need to upgrade which will cost more.
How shocking!!!
Why would people even have insurance that covers virtually nothing? The whole point of the law is to require coverage for EVERYONE so that taxpayers aren't paying the bills when you fall off your skateboard.
If you have money for weed and Xbox,,,,,,man up and get insured.

Cancellations affect a minority. 80+% of Americans with employer or government insurance are unaffected. In individual insurance market, normal turnover is half of customers don't keep their insurance anyway.
Obamacare discourages substandard insurance that don't provide basic protections such as coverage for drugs or preexisting conditions. Insurance purchased before March 2010 is still good if unchanged. In most cases of cancellation, insurance companies offer better insurance as replacement. Half of customers qualify for subsidies to offset increased cost.

i'm not out to defend obamacare as i don't know enough about it but to hear on the "news" that people are getting their policies canceled and assume it's such a bad thing without knowing what kind of policy they had and what their options are for other policies is Foxnews level ignorance. knowing how insurance companies try to darn people, i would imagine many of these low level insurance policies are basically jsut donations to the insurance companies.

Hutch, all due respect, Obama himself calls it "obamacare". Whatever they should call it, affordable should not be a part of it. Nothing that gives tax subsidy to someone is affordable to them. Affordable means based on my net worth or income, I can pay full price for something. This plan is not designed to succeed, it is designed to keep those dependent on the government still dependent and turn a large majority of those that are not, eventually government dependent. This is simply a stepping stone to a single payer system of full government control.

If you read my posts, we're generally on the same side. I've already said that healthcare with $5K deductibles is NOT affordable to people who have no money to buy insurance.
Even with the subsidies, this will not be affordable for a TON of people.
esplanade suggested that it's called "Obamacare" when they want to talk it up and it's called the Affordable Care Act when the problems rear their ugly heads. It's simply not true. People who hate it call it Obamacare just to make sure this bad idea is attached to him. That's all I was pointing out.
