Short and sweet, it's in our losing D.N.A. When Mr. Irrelevancy decided to try out the shores of Lake Erie he like most Buffalonias loved the area. It's not worth the hardship of bringing up embarrassing statistics about winning droughts or what the Bills overall record would look like without the 90's run. IT IS however, about BILL-EVING and making BOLD MAY STATEMENTS. Here are my three at the moment...
First-Buddy Nix swindled the Bills-
How can there be no coverage about GM Buddy Nix. The man kept his job in the first place by the skin of his teeth after a forest fire of releases. The Bills invest more time in listing to his thoughts by allowing him to stay and have a predecessor in Doug Whaley; which is ridiculous in my opinion. Nothing wrong with Whaley, we don't know how he will be as a GM yet. Buddy however somehow manipulates front office to continue in his role, make our draft selections, and free agent signings. When it's time to see how these decisions will play out, HE STEPS DOWN. Just because the Bills front office new it was coming and may have set it up themselves, it is ridiculous. Buddy Nix, who hasn't necessarily "wooed" any fan to this point had the honor of leading the most exciting front office part of the season. One more thing, Who gave Fitz-tragic his crazy contract, couldn't lock up arguably the best pick of the decade in Andy Levitre, or gave our back up running back starting running back money?
Second-CJ Spiller Finishes top three in total yardage and number one passing yards for running backs-
The running game for the Bills last season was struck by injuries often and it hurt them in overall statistics. When allowed to be the premiere and only running back CJ excelled in that role started opening the eyes of the masses. Fred Jackson the other running back has had his waves of top caliber running back moments, but ultimately falls into a deducted role above and beyond the extent people think now. Mid season Fred Jackson is going to be getting less than 25% of the carries. A first round pick with his contract coming up soon CJ will have a lot to prove, He proved last year he can be an in between the tackles running back and as a former first round pick he has the talent to be the best running back in the league. The boo's for Fred Jackson's contract will finally come out of the wood work this season. No doubt in my mind CJ is the best overall player on the entire roster. An exciting statement after the years and years of that players being our punter.
Third- There are wins on this schedule-
In the Spirit of being bold I can conjure up Nine reasonable wins
1. Week 1 New England-- The Bills are .500 when playing New England in season openers. The Ralph is always an exciting place in Season home openers, equally as electrifying when the Patriots come to town. I smell an upset, I smell a Bills Blow out.
2. Week 2 Carolina--I think the revamped Defense will be too much for Carolina's offense to handle. I am expecting big things will the formation changes and new mentality. I think the years of sub-par running backs gashing the Bills is over, this is shown week two with all the pressure late on Cam Newton.
3&4. Bills will Sweep the jets. Everyone in the AFC east will sweep the Jets. The jets might be the most talked about bad football franchise in NFL history. The media saga of the Jets is nothing short of embarrassing, the way ESPN gawks over their coaching staff and continual losses. Mark Sanchez is another USC QB bust at least the realized long before it took teams to realize about Carson Palmer. (GO Irish, keep racking them up Trojans)
6.Week 9 The bills make it yet another chiefs blowout. KC is a tough team to read this year with all the changes they have made. If this came would have been earlier in the season I like the Bills to figure out their system before Kansas City Figures out theirs. Reasons for this is the familiarity between The head coach and offensive coordinator for Buffalo. The team was a tandem last year and will start off the season on the same page. By week nine it is possibly that KC has fully committed to the new system and is rolling. I doubt it, Bills win in a big fashion.
7. Week 16-- The Bills will take one against Miami. I know there is a lot of hype in South Beach this year will all their new players. I feel we can cover Mike Wallace as we have in years past when he was a Steeler. This is one of my stretch picks because of the talent factor. It is clear to me that Miami has more skill on each side of the ball than the Bills do. Miami is a Buffalo rival, at best we take the Game at home with the fans screaming Squish the Fish.
8.&9. The Buffalo Bills in any sort of playoff race is likely doubtful since most of my wins come late in the season. But it is hard to argue that the Bills will lose to Tampa Bay or Jacksonville. These are teams that are arguably equal to the Bills in total talent and in Past season records, however the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be the worst team in Football this year. MJD is getting another year older and another year more banged up, he can't stay healthy a full season as it is and age is not on his side. The Tampa Bay Bucs will be a below average team that once again I feel like the bills and handle Dougy Freash in the Running game and force Tampa to throw late in the game. Their receivers are good there is no questions, Bills win a close game.
Nine and seven?? I smell Mid may BOLDNESS
