I mean really? Ban guns and/or assault rifles. In about an hour I could make a call or 2 and have about any gun I wanted. I have ZERO criminal record or "real contacts" in the crime scene.....and it would still be that easy....
I really dont understand why people think its the guns fault or that banning them will help anything?
People are borderline retarded ( no offense meant to actual handicapped people). I am almost at a loss for words after reading some of the most idiotic stuff about how criminals wont be able to get guns so easily if they are banned.....THEY WILL BE THE ONLY ONES GETTING THEM.
For f u c k s sake people

Yeah I agree but if that gun you have is anywhere outside of your closet safe then you could be checked on the serial number and reg verification.
Instant felony. You don't want to go there brother. No range, no outdoor shooting, nada, zippo unless you're completely nuts. Every registered gun owner knows that and would never touch a black market weapon.

I'm not gonna go there man, I was making a point. If I can get a gun, how hard can it be for someone who really wants one.....

For almost every major issue (abortion, death penalty, etc) an intelligent argument can be made for both sides. The far left’s version of “gun control” is not among them.
This is basically their argument in a nutshell:
“We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid.”
In their minds this actually makes sense:
Criminals have guns while law-abiding citizens are defenseless = safe
Criminals have guns and law-abiding citizens have guns = unsafe
All these loudmouth anti-gun people rant and rave about banning guns and yet when you ask them how the government should go about implementing and enforcing a ban in a country that has over 300 million firearms they can’t give you a straight answer.
Then those same people will go to another gun thread and say the exact same thing.

Without getting further into the debate at the moment, then I assume you agree that drugs (weed, coke, heroin, etc.) should be legal by that same logic?

i don't have much of an opinion either way but your logic is flawed as depeche pointed out. there are thousands of criminal laws in this country. show me one that has eliminated the conduct that the law has made illegal, with the drugs laws probably being the best example.

Weed should be legal as its safer than tobacco....but thats another debate.
My point was it doesnt matter weather its legal or not, if you want it (guns/drugs/hookers etc), you CAN GET IT. Making it "illegal" simply makes it a little harder.....Dont you think you know atleast 5 people who do weed/coke/heroin/or someone elses prescription like percocet or vicodin? Sure ya do, you just dont know it......
Not so sure whats so hard to understand. I guess my point is being made in this thread. People are more naive than I thought.

the point is, a lot of people argue against gun control laws by saying people will disobey the laws and get the guns anyway. that's a flawed reason to avoid gun control laws because you could say the same thing about every other criminal law we have as none of them have eliminated the conduct they address.
that may or may not be what you are referring to but depeche rationally points out the failed logic of some people opposed to gun control laws.

also...in the Newtown case...the dude just got whatever his mom had...if assault rifles weren't legal, she wouldn't have had one and he wouldn't have used it.
a few more kids would be alive today.

another thought....maybe the problem is more in how we treat each other. be more active in your communities, know people's needs and meet them.
calling people stupid and moronic and idiotic and retarded is the kind of action that fosters environments of hatred and evil. and that is something that we each CAN control.

They were all shot pretty much at point blank range no? The pistols he had on him wouldn't have done the same job that close? Or he just decided to snap because he had a rifle?

Comparing the use of heroin and meth to gun ownership for self defense makes you look rather inane, sorry.
Please constrain yourself to comparing the potential benefit to the user and society. I predict
The argument being used by TRAIN is not limited to guns for self defense. He's saying don't ban any kind of guns because criminals can just get them anyway. I think tailoring gun laws to allow reasonable guns for self-defense should be allowed, but weapons whose purpose go well beyond self-defense should be illegal.
I don't think very many people think all guns should be banned. But I do think a lot of people believe that rational laws can be crafted to limit the number and types of guns widely available.

I'm not against gun control laws. I'm merely stated the fact that it wont solve anything. It will be symbolic at best so Obama can have someone write his speeches and look like he achieved something. Maybe if he would focus 10 miles away instead of overseas in Iraq he would be able to make a difference......
Do you have any idea how many guns are already out there? Millions apon millions. You cant police them. Drugs are all illegal, but that doesnt stop anyone that wants them from getting them. How many people have died "protecting" us from drugs? Its all quite absurd really. Our govt is the biggest ponzi scheme ever....
Just as in the medical field, you cant treat the symptoms, you must find the cause. You have a runny nose and cough? What happens if you keep blowing your nose? Does that make the snot stop coming? What happens if you take some Dayquil?
Sure, gun control laws will make you feel safer, but that doesnt make you safer. You're letting the actions of less than .000000001 % (not accurate, I know) of the population dictate majority thought/actions. Thats not how america was founded. It was found on take care of yourself and the ones you love and dont look for trouble, but if it finds you its up to you to be ready.

i don't have much of a position on guns/gun control but i completely agree with your first paragraph. bad garbage happens, the politicians and interests groups grab a microphone to advance whatever agenda they have, nothing gets done or some half-behind measure is passed and nothing changes until we do it all again the next time.

Couldn't agree more.
Geeezus, why don't they form for some type of commission that is focused on targeting violence and the root of mass shootings?
A ban is just hurry up to stupid and it will never happen anyway.

I do not own a gun. I really do not need it for my safety. But I will be very affraid for my safety if the government attempts to ban them. We have seen this happen before under several dictators (Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Mae Tze Tung, etc) that once they ban guns from the citizens what happens next is genocide.

Not doing anything because you can illegally get guns is not strong enough reason to do nothing
Why? Because a few people and a few guns over the last decade have killed a 100 or so people?
There are still bars with parking lots. I dont see them making alcohol or at least serving alcohol illegal. Pretty sure drunk driving has killed way more innocent people than "guns in the hands of lunatics" have,
People are focusing on the wrong details is my whole point to this thread, and it is making it quite apparent I was correct.
