How is what happened in Connecticut any different?

First and foremost, our prayers and thoughts are with the families and friends of the children who were killed today.

It is beyond ridicolous. But this leads to me to ask, how is this any different when troops go into afghan, iran, iraq and the rest and blow up in total several thousand INNOCENT children, teens and adults for the so called war on terror?

All tragedies are tragedies, this is not the issue, from my experience, no one gave a rats to the several thousand of innocent children, teens and adults who got blown up by military equipment in iran, iraq and the like......

There's an extreme difference and the fact that you don't see that is a problem.

These were innocent children not in a war zone. It's not like our troops are killing everything that moves over there. If that was the case the war would be over by now. We have enough firepower to wipe Afghanistan off the map, but we haven't for the sake of reducing civilian casualties. So seriously comparing a nut job gunning down innocent children to a war zone is rediculous and quite frankly ignorant.

So to the innocent children that were not only killed, but have to live with their legs and arms blown off, bad luck, you were in a war zone.....

Furthermore, the argument is not even about wether its right to attack Afghan and the likes....

What i am getting is that, when all these poor innocent children that were killed and the ones who are alive but are living with severe mental scars and half their bodies missing is that no one gave a flying rats about them. Thats my real gripe.

I in no way think its ok, but you're in a god damn war zone. At some point the parents have to think gee it might not be a good idea to stay around.I would compare it to the people who stayed when Katrina was coming. It's tragic sure, but somewhat preventable. No comparison in my eyes.

How many U.S. troops die simply just because they don't shoot anything that moves? If you were comparing Vietnam I think you're argument would be better, but not in any of the recent wars that have taken place with us involved.

Where are they going to go? As i said, how many people here shed tears for them? How many people gave a rats about them? NO ONE.

The fact that they were in a war zone shouldnt make caring for these children any difference.

They are simply a casualty of war. I'm not saying its right, but it is what it is. I personally don't agree with the war in Afghanistan, but I see it's purpose. 
 As far as where would they go? I really don't know, but I know if Las Vegas became a war zone. My kids and I wouldn't stick around to see how it plays out. If I had to fight my kids definitely wouldn't be here. It's not like it's a sudden ambush there as the war has been going on for how long now?

I'm a little tired so I might be missing the point sorry. I'm just thinking there is a difference in feelings of a preventable death and innocent school children being gunned down at random.
They are both sad and shouldn't happen, but the fact that all these kids were In a normal area going on with their daily life hits a little closer to home.

What happened yesterday is the worst thing Iv ever seen in my life, In my entire life, Children the age of my daughter were gunned down by a piece of human trash, I anguish with the parents my god
bring them into this world
change their diapers
feed them
teach them
love them
hearing them say daddy for the first time
having them jump on your chest and stomach and lifting them up with one leg while holding their hands like a helicopter
having them say I love you daddy
Daddy can you buy this one
Daddy bring me strawberries
taking them to school and being in awe that your child at age 3 is reading at age 4 doing basic math
the little things they do that makes you laugh
having a bet on a football game and you yell Yes and she comes in and says was that Touchdown daddy

then for some scum of the earth motherf*cker to take it all away, I am in total anguish and feel so so so so bad for those parents.

Mate, read my first post. What happened is one of the worst things that could ever happen. It makes you honestly feel real sick.

Everything that you said, ie, those experiences is 100% spot on.

The same things you mentioned is EXACTLY the same for those poor innocent children that got blown up by military in Afghanistan, Iraq etc. Innocent children are innocent children anywhere in the world.

My point is, the reflective feelings for the children in this tragedy are what they should be. However, when it happened to the children in Afghan etc, no one gave a rats, no one said anything, no one cared.

I am simply "commentating" on the double standards......Thats all.

Oh rostos, shut the darn up! You can't compare the two situations - one is a country that is at war. Sure its bad and garbage but it is what it is.

I dont believe that school was at war - correct me is I'm wrong.

the most innocent kids lost their lives today - mate, at some point you have to be more respectful of the situation.

On behalf of the rest of AUS, I offer our most heartfelt condolences - this is beyond horrific and our prayers are with each and every one of you.

I can only hope that your leaders have the guts to do something about this - in this day and age there is no need for citizens to 'bear' arms. Anyone who argus with this should imagine how they would feel if their was taken so randomly.

Comparing this tragedy at an elementary school in Connecticut, to a military conflict between nations makes you today's, "Tool of the Day"...

arguably, what we do when we go into iraq and kill many innocent children is worse than what happened yesterday.  assuming this guy was mentally ill, the laws in this country and our criminal justice system mitigates to some degree a person's actions that are the result of mental illness, and most people understand that.

when we bomb iraq and other places for no legitimate reason, we know kids and other innocent people will be massacred and we can't blame it on mental illness.  on the contrary, we do it because our politicians are pawns for huge defense firms that need to sell their arms and make millions.  and oil companies who need to get the oil and make billions.  and pliticians need to stay in power so they can be set for life without having to actually work.

so, on the one hand, you have a brutal massacre of kids that is caused by mental illness which most people don't understand.

on the other hand, you have many more children and others getting massacred due to political power, controlling the minds of the masses and the profit motive for the big companies.

You cant say that no one gives a rats behind about innocent dead children, though far far to many dont.

There was the My Lai Massacre!  So if it is war, it is outside of our reflective feelings?  To me any loss of human life is tragic no matter the situation.

I wasnt gonna say a word, but i read it again and felt ii had to chime in.. First of all i get what you're trying to say but you're comparing apples and oranges here. Sure we as a country are not doing the right thing by killing innocent women and children over there, but the fact that they came here and took so many lives not only on 9/11 but so many other instances not only here but all over the world. The fact that it is a warzone makes it alright in the minds of the majority of people as well as mine because i think they are just casualties of war.  And to say that they have no place to go is ludicrous, because you better believe that if the shoe was on the other foot you and I would be trying as hard as you could to find a SAFE place for your children.Maybe im bias only because i live so close to what happened yesterday and know some of the people that are involved but this hit too close to home for me and not a day is gonna go by that i am not gonna be worried sick about my daughter in school. No matter if this kid was sick or whatever he was, it doesnt change the fact that it happened to Children ages 5-9. This by far the most horrific thing i have ever seen in my lifetime. The fact  that the school WASNT locked up pisses me off, not that it could have been avoided but locking the school just makes it more difficult and maybe more lives would have been spared.

Rostos-This is totally different because this guy specifically targeted indefensible schoolchildren. Innocents of war getting killed-while tragic-are not the  targets for death the way these kids were.
