My thoughts on George Zimmerman

My previous thread reminded me of this situation and last night, I had drinks with some colleagues at a DC bar and our conversation turned pretty heated when it came to Zimmerman vs Trayvon Martin.

My friends accused me of ditching my Conservative ideals by supporting Martin here. I found that to be unbelievable and am confused when people attempt to turn this case into a political issue. To me, it's not very political at all. Instead of being about race or politics, to me, its about Zimmerman's awful way he handled the situation. As a Conservative American, I am not going to support a stance just because it falls within the party lines. Conservatives supporting Zimmerman because they feel like they are doing right by the partisan lines is like your local idiot Democrat who supports Obamacare when he/she has no clue what Obamacare stands for. It's just cool to support cuz Obama is cool. Dumb. Anyway, my thoughts are as follows:

1. Nighttime. Raining. Dark out. Zimmerman is not wearing a uniform or badge. Let’s assume Martin did not know Zimmerman worked for neighborhood watch. He's being followed by a man at night for no apparent reason. Is he about to be jumped?

2. Zimmerman was explicitly told by the dispatcher to not follow Trayvon. Instead of following those orders, he sprinted after him.

3. Why do people care that Trayvon had weed in his system? It has ZERO to do with the situation. ZERO.

4. Trayvon probably thought he was being jumped and if a bigger, strange man is chasing me at night, I am going to fight for my LIFE. My LIFE.

Forget race and politics. Zimmerman is guilty of being a moron, not following instructions, completely misunderstanding the ideals of community policing, and killing a young man who was innocent of any real wrongdoing.

 

Like almost all of us, you are getting your information from a media that is completely corrupt, unethical, and full of lies.

I know if I was being followed by somebody, I wouldn't confront them, I would take off running ....kinda strange that he was obviously much faster and only like a building or 2 away from where he was staying...Guess that pretty much throws #1 of your post out the window.

As for #2, it don't make no difference in the world what the 911 operator told him, he did not have to listen to what they said....This is a FACT

#4  I don't buy this for a moment, it is pretty clear who was beating who up, If he was afraid of the guy , when he punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground, it was the perfect time to take off for the house....why get on top of the guy and pound his head into the ground?

 I'll tell you my thoughts.

This case is old and stale. Could not care less about Martin. Hundreds of upstanding citizens have been murdered since then, without media attention or any cause celeb.

Why does the media continue to show pics of a child instead of up to date pics that exist?

You should be embarrassed. And I should be insulted. Because I see issues like this on "news" shows but as with everything I make a little effort to have the FACTS before I make decisions. Read some official reports. Find someone besides TMZ to research things.

1. "He was ordered not to follow and then "sprinted" after him". There is a recording of the conversation. He was asked if he was following. He said Yes. She said he didn't need to. He agreed. He was walking to his car. Ordered not to and began sprinting? Even Trayvons supporters wonder how you twisted this to get that.

FACT: When the police operator told Zimmerman “we don’t need you to do that [following Martin],” Zimmerman appears to have stopped following Martin and agreed to go to where the police would be arriving.

Agrees he doesn't need to follow. Stops. And asks where he can meet the police. And idiots like you are out on a public forum telling people he "sprinted after him".


2. I agree about the weed. Irrelevant.

3. "Was jumped and fighting for his life"??? He was approached by Zimmerman and asked what he was doing there. Zero lacerations to Zimmerman's hand. Not one bruise on Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman had a broken nose, two black eyes, and lacerations to the BACK of his head. Wrap your head around those FACTS. If you can read those and understand them and still believe this dramatic "for his life, HIS LIFE" you have a brain tumor.


This goes for everything. Politics. Religion. News. Be a grown up and try offering yourself a fighting chance when making decisions by getting the grounds for them right first.

Martin was about 6-feet tall. The police report said Zimmerman was 5-foot-7.

You couldn't even get that right.

You fell for the picture the media has of Martin that was a decade old didn't you?? He wasn't a small child. And you are the EXACT reason the media can do that and distort views because the public eats up what they are fed. I have 6 foot friends. They don't become alarmed by some 5'7 guy who asks what they are doing.

and if he identifies himself as neighborhood it would make sense to run because it is not a real cop where resisting arrest could be a factor...


you are talking from the experienced/informed perspective of cannabis...


a large segment of the population collectively accepts the ignorant assumptions and propaganda concerning cannabis... and actually believe that the experienced/informed opinion is incorrect... 

If I look out side and a _ _ _ _ _ _ is hiding in  the bushes in the middle of the night in the rain. I think its only appropriate to invite it in for tea and crumpets.

Every side of this has already been argued.  Really nothing to do, but wait for the trial and see how it goes.  I'm guessing we'll learn some things that we don't know at this point.

Doesn't matter what the verdict is....I'm guessing that there will be some sort of rioting.  On what scale, I don't know.
