New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said he’ll move ahead with plans to
legalize sports betting at casinos and racetracks by November even as he
faces a possible legal challenge from the federal government.
Christie, 49, a first-term Republican, told reporters today in Atlantic
City that his administration will propose regulations next week
authorizing sports-book wagering in Atlantic City and at horse tracks.
Won't the Leagues easily be able to get an injunction to at least delay this until the Supreme's get involved?
And If you are a NJ casino boss, does the potential of being the "first"
casino to open a book outweigh the cost of setting this up, knowing
this may take a while to sort out?
How much resistance will the DOJ put up considering this is an election year and the public clearly wants this?
It's gonna be interesting to see what happens.
What do you guys think here?
Thanks GP

Obviously nothing is going to happen until the federal ban is overturned and by playing the unconstitutional card, I think there is a very strong possibility that it is overturned.
It's kind of shocking that no one has used that argument in the past.

It's no surprise that Eric Holder doesn't exactly have the highest favorablility rating and Christie, Romney could use this as a free-market, DOJ over-reach issue come Sept. Wow, what do you know the election is in Nov. If its attacking Holder or the DOJ you can get the gun toters behind you at a time when you need them.
