#1 Posted: 5/6/2012 5:17:05 PM Euro 2012 is btw
well if you didn't know that you're probably going to answer Olympics
as for me Euro 2012 by a mile, even though I'll be working a lot of events relating to the Olympics, I've never been much of a fan of athletics, swimming, boxing and all the other stuff that goes on. I do like the shooting categories though

#5 Posted: 5/7/2012 12:05:36 PM EURO 2012 hands down. The 2nd best international football competition and just like the WC it's every four years. Really the cream of the crop too, and what a tournament it should be this year.
Germany
Spain
Netherlands
England
After all the disappointment I think "zee Germans" are finally due. They had a tremendous run in the last WC only to see it go up in flames against Spain, who they could potentially meet up with again in the EURO final. England will have plenty of hype surrounding their football but will it translate into a deep knockout run??? First things first and that's getting past France and WINNING, not only qualifying but WINNING Group D. England are very talented in almost every position I will say that, however I can't be the only one that thinks Crouch would be a poor choice for CF/ST....
Can't argue with Ashley Young and Aaron Lennon on the wings though, Jesus talk about speed and class. Throw in Walcott, Milner, Gabby if he's fit. Scotty Parker one of if not the most vital midfielder in the game at creating space and opportunity. Stevie G, Lampard.....
England really could do damage in this tournament, Terry and Lescott in the back inspires confidence with Ashley Cole and one of Walker/Johnson/Richards on the other side.Obviously Joe Hart between the posts...
Can't wait for EURO 2012!

#7 Posted: 5/7/2012 4:18:32 PM The Olympic football is an under 23 competition(allowed 3 over the age of 23). It is not the best of the best.

GERMANY SPAIN HOLLAND
Heard that the live coverage on US TV is never live.Always in summary and running on primetime at 7pm or so? That would suck! We in europe are spoiled with every sport event of the Olympics are live on TV and the viewer can pick his own he wants to watch 24/7 |

That had to do with the 08 games being in Beijing, which is a 12 hour time difference from the East Coast. These Olympics being in London will work out nicely with only a 3 hour difference.
Our big problem is that NBC seems to think that the only Olympic sport worth watching is gymnastics. We'll get some hoops and swimming, but the lesser sports get little coverage.
Is it like this in Europe too? I imagine track and field is more popular there? Anything else? Luckily for me I am in one of the 3 US markets that gets Canadian TV as well as US (Detroit, Seattle, Buffalo), so I get a little more variety. |

#17 Posted: 5/7/2012 7:22:53 PM Euro2012 by far. The Olympics are a has been event. It's all political bullshit and the IOC is even more corrupt than the US Government. The thing that has ruined the Olympics the most is the brutal coverage by NBC. They think it's illegal to show live events. I refuse to watch tape delayed events. Then you have to listen to Bob Costas try to be the center of attention along with tons of commercials to make the Olympics even more unwatchable. |
