So I'm standing there in the vegies isle and then a fruit bar comes flying over the isle and lands right in front of me, I put down the cabbage and walk around to see who threw it and I see 3 black kids scattering away and I could hear him say "guy blah blah" (im asian) . They were probably 15-16 years of age. I was so pissed I walked over to the hot soup section and grabbed a bowl of clam chowder so I could throw it on his face, then I would of asked him if he likes getting things thrown at him.
So I was pretty upset and my wife stopped me from confronting them, she basically said they're kids, ghetto and just raised like that...
So I dropped it and just continued shopping but really hoped I ran into them again while I was shopping.
So I guess I'm just wondering what would you have done, (seriously)
I'm 33 and could go to jail for punching a kid even though he deserved it.
Not shopping there again, I'd rather pay a 5% premium to shop where normal people shop.
Perhaps with the woman there you made the right decision... would have made the same decision if a child was involved... in terms of avoiding conflict...
I think a physical confrontation is not the right to do... dumping soup on them wouldnt make sense either...
but I think some type of dialog would make sense... I guess I would have approached them and asked them if everything was okay... like Im looking out for them and was concerned for them vs coming off like "
We Got A Problem Here
?"
I mean they could have nailed you with it but they probably missed on purpose to make it a joke and avoid real conflict because they are cowards... so addressing them, making them know that acknowledge what they did rather then turning a blind eye...
Another thing I might have done is say..."excuse me, sir... I think you dropped something"... and loud enough for people to hear you.... If they are cowards I think they are they would get nervous and try to avoid you and your point is made...
I wouldnt necessarily shop some where else because in some ways they are winning...
It sounds weird, but in my experience with situations like that you would be surprised how many african americans will step up, or at least say to you they think what they did was wrong...
