No joke here folks. Lets be realistic here. How many of you are actually ahead long term? Better question: How many of you are ahead enough to make this garbage worthwhile?

Theres no way you can make a good living doing this. The NBA is such a friggin joke it is unreal. Public slams the nationally televised favorites then Stern calls in the fix on the dog.

Funny thing is I am actually very good at MLB. Problem is I wrap myself around my person at money management and if I drop a big bet you can bet your behind I will unload on the last remaining game on the board regardless.

Man, I seriously think Ive wasted enough of my life on this. If we put all this effort and time into a worthwhile career we would be millionaires.

I dont even know why Im bothering to type this because I know you are all far gone like me and this will fall on deaf ears. I dont even think I will be able to stop.

What keeps me going is all the amazing runs I have had, turning 100 into 4k, winning 10k at blackjack, etc. I think well I did it before I can do it again, and next time I have built it back up things will be different and I will be disciplined.

But things dont change. And neither do people.

I challenge one person who claims they are ahead on NBA this year. The NBA this year has been honestly the biggest debacle I have ever witnessed. I do not see how anyone can possibly be ahead this year on NBA. You would be better off flipping a coin. The better team? Home court advantage? Injuries? Matchups? None of it matters.

Just quit now folks. Save your life, your money, you sanity and do something worthwhile.

Even when you are top of it you will struggle to turn a profit year in and year out. If thats really the kind of life you want to live, have at it.

This is just sad. Im sure theres a ton of us who wish we could stop but we cant.

We know we would be better of stopping but we still cant. What kinds of people does that make us when we are so addicted to something we are unable to stop even though we know we should?

That goes beyond addiction. Addiction is a term to define something we enjoy. This is misery.

You're a lemon. Like a bad car. There is something... there is something inherently defective in you, and you, and you, and me, and all of us. We're all lemons. We look like everyone else, but what makes us different is our defect. See, most gamblers, when they go to gamble, they go to win. When we go to gamble, we go to lose. Subconsciously. Me, I never feel better than when they're raking the chips away; not bringing them in. And everyone here knows what I'm talking about. Hell, even when we win it's just a matter of time before we give it all back. But when we lose, that's another story. When we lose, and I'm talking about the kind of loss that makes your fool pucker to the size of a decimal point - you know what I mean - You've just recreated the worst possible nightmare this side of malignant cancer, for the twentieth goddamn time; and you're standing there and you suddenly realise, Hey, I'm still... here. I'm still breathing. I'm still alive. Us lemons, we darn garbage up all the time on purpose. Because we constantly need to remind ourselves we're alive. Gambling's not your problem. It's this fucked up need to feel something. To convince yourself you exist. That's the problem. -- Walter Abrams

sick huh?

sex, drugs, booze, gambling, money, power ....

all of em give you that feeling. one gets out of control, focus on that one, one of the other ones pop up ...

fight, fight, fight ...

this is why people read religious books and garbage. need to tap in to that other power for help. it's hard to find that other power.

imo.

This is the problem with the NBA.

Tim Donaghy was caught cheating on a number of games he officiated in a few years ago.

The thing is, the FBI caught him by chance. The FBI were investigating a completely different case and "accidently" ran into Donaghy's dealings.

This clearly indicates that the NBAs internal controls / compliance and protocols are insufficient to detect corrupt behaviour by its officials.

Remember, the NBA never caught Donaghy, it was the FBI, and it was only by chance.

After the episode was finished, David Stern came out and said "no other referees are cheating". The question is, if his organisation were never able to detect corrupt behaviour for a number of years, how does Stern know that no other refs or players are cheating?

This is a question that when i ask on the NBA forum, everyone avoids........

Why dont you respond to post 10.....Or does that post slam dunk you? hence your refusal to talk about it....

Do you hate the possibility that players and officials are laughing at you when you are on the wrong side?

Just because it's March 9th and you haven't paid your rent doesn't mean I'm ill.

I understand the concept you are talking about but it really does come to money management.

I am above average in winning as are a lot of people around here. The problem for most is investing every bet with purpose and not impulse.

I am sincerely and truthfully up over the last 12+ years and just had a payout less than a month ago. After starting with a clean slate I have 400% growth on my money as we speak.

OP said something about about doubling up after a bad loss and in my opinion is the #1 thing to avoid.

I have seen people ruin their entire lives and I believe through watching them first hand is why the $ management comes easier for me.

people like kelly slater don't get it. they say things like ride or die but i was "crazier" than he is when i was 14.

i'm not saying that to sound "crazy" or to make him look bad .. it's just the truth. he can't identify with the "lemon" thing. we can.

i know that money management isn't the problem. it's deeper.
