CMJohnson1 - The three days will fly by and so will the rehab days. Learn from it, grow from it. Happened to me once and that was enough. I was in a county north of mine and had two beers and a shot and was dumb enough to speed. Got pulled over, blew at .08, the legal limit. 10 days in lockup. First and only DUI, but in a mandatory jail time county. I read 7 books! And not good ones! Now I keep a number of a service if I drink. For $20 a couple comes and picks you up. You ride home with one and the other drives your car home. Works well.
Pulledclear - It sucks that you lost a family member, but not every person deserves jail time. Lots do, yes. It can help with the real problem drinkers if you keep them locked up long enough. But the drunks that cause most the issue keep doing it jailed or not. It is okay to be angry too. I sure hope you are taking that anger and helping with the issue by going out and talking at schools, etc. Sorry for your loss. |

#55 Posted: 2/7/2012 11:50:16 AM I did a 3 day DUI on a Daytona 500 weekend back in the 90's. Turns out 5 of us were casual friends, some of us knew a few of the guards, 2 had kitchen duty and a long termmer had the sounds. After release we all partied at a local bar with their pick-ups and arraigned for a reunion at Daytona the following year. WOW (I'll skip the details).
Within 4 years only 2 of us were still alive
You guessed it 3 of them were DUI casualities and they took 2 others with them. RIP I miss them.

#56 Posted: 2/7/2012 12:14:41 PM This brings back memories. When I was in high school, my buddies and I skipped school and decided to drink some beers at the beach. Police come and our dumbasses decide to run. After about 5 minutes, we all give up.
Police lock us up for 72 hours. It wasn't too bad b/c I had some friends to do the time with. They made us watch videos about booze and drugs. Saying the food was awful would be an understatement. |

#64 Posted: 2/7/2012 7:02:36 PM you need to beat down the 1st guy that looks at you crossed, it's the only way that you get respect in the clink. If you beat down a fool corrections officer, even better. The other inmates will be thinking twice before they decide to put their person in your behind |

#72 Posted: 2/8/2012 3:46:48 AM Meh, 3 days.. It'll be over before you know it. If you haven't been to jail before, just to let you know most of the garbage you hear usually doesn't really happen in county (assuming that's where you're going) anyways. Fighting, yeah.. But most people in county are just in for a short while anyways and in a hurry to get the darn out. In most, if not at all county jails, infractions inside result in more charges and more charges = more time.
Far as the comment about being decent to the CO's, I'd suggest that too. I had a few words with a CO once while in county and was promptly moved into a cell with a guy awaiting trial for kidnapping and murder.
Cya in a few days. |

#74 Posted: 2/8/2012 4:48:57 AM 3 days actually people your whole garbage up if you have responsibilities. At least if you get a year, you can just quit your job and go on a mean bender the days leading up to turning yourself in.
But three days, you have to come up with all kinds of excuses, then show up to work with fake pictures of the place you supposedly visited. |
