No more .. Gambling, Drugs, Booze

im 30. the last 10 years, 5 have been sober in AA, 5 have been off the wagon.

the last time i got sober i was 25. i got hooked up with up a job as a janitor.12.00 hr .. cleaning toilets, hey detox .. dude shit - go clean it. i didn't miss one day or show up late for 2 years. i took one week vacation to a nice spot each year.

then .. i got benefits, a raise .. 45k lots of bennies/time off, easier job ... etc ... made a few investments .... built my bank account up to $200,000.00

invested 150,000.00 of it. right away pretty much.

fell off the wagon.

28. credit card. dirty hustling abilities. drinking. went to vegas twice. drugs. perc 30's. cocaine. drinking. drinking. drugs. gambling.

not wise.

now ... i'm 30. i do not like the lifestyle that i have created. i liked it a lot better when it was simple. after a high like that there is obv a depression price to pay when you crash. sucks. i hate the way i feel. i hate the things i do. it makes me hate the person that i am.

only answer.

is the worst answer for a guy like me. NO NOTHING.no gambling, no drinking, no drugs, no booking, no dealing, no fucking nothing. get your fucking headout of your ass. be a man. be honest. go to aa. get sober.

I'm trying to cut down on the drinking myself. Damn near wrecked my life these past few years. Good luck to ya

i got lucky really. bought 2 fam at best time for 130k. 3.5 down. fixed it .. sold for 268 10 mo later. i know doesnt really add up but its all true.

i wouldnt lie on internet. not my style man.

I'm about to turn 30 and need to slow down with the drinking, not because I can't control it, but for health reasons, soooo many empty calories when you drink.

i didnt save. per se(?) i made 150k on the 1st 2 family. made a few moves and had 200. i did have a plan. i was sober.

you'll be fine bro.

on the saving thing .... set up a 401k ( cant be a better time) or something that you put a little in ea week. you wont even notice it and them see 20k in 2 yrs.

Sounds like you know what to do and are taking responsibility to improve your life.

I know many people with addictions (drugs or alcohol). Once they made the change their life improved dramatically. It's amazing, I know several people that are highly successful now that were once out of control.

Hoping Woods play today wasn't the final straw Detox.
(guess the caddie motivation didn't help).

I quit online gambling a few years ago. I still go to Vegas occasionally or bet among friends but nothing too serious. Relieved a lot of stress for me.

With all the bullshit hoops you have to jump through now days, withdraw restrictions, fees, limited deposit methods etc. it just wasn't worth it anymore. Now that the industry is on the verge of collapse I am glad I did.

Have really slowed down on drinking the past year, got a DUI last march that rocked my world and sent me into a pretty deep depression. I'll still have a couple of beers once in a while but no more all night benders at a bar or club.

Had a great paying job that I lost and a successful business that went down the drain late 2009 due to the economic downturn and major changes in the industry. That coupled with the DUI I  went into a tail spin that I am still trying to climb out of. Been living off my savings since about October 2009 and playing video games all day.

I have recently woke from my self induced coma, cleaned the sand out of my vag and restarted my business. It's picking up but nowhere near what it was when my main client folded.

I look back at the last 2 years and regret all the time I wasted feeling sorry for myself when I should have been doing more productive activities.

Depression is a helluva thing.

Anyway it can get tough and you may slip occasionally but you got to pick yourself back up and keep moving forward.

 gl my friend. yup, feeling sorry for yourself is pathetic. i just try to be honest. fuck it. just say ... hey im fucked etc ..... even a thread like this.

i find the more people close to me i tell about my problems the more serious i get about fixing them.

talking helps the most. ive discovered.

you cant change the fact that you are hard wired in your brain to be an addict...

you just need to change what you are addicted to... the problem is that for the first 1-2 years nothing will compare to the negative addictions in terms of strength, but it get better...

HAve you ever had a positive addiction before?
