Many know my frustration with their in-your-face customer service approach. I'm of the opinion they can't be stopped.
I stop by the bank today and decide to go inside because I had to fill out a deposit slip and there was a line at the drive-thru.
So I fill out my stuff and walk to the tellers...there is one open. She asks if she can help me and I tell her, "yes, please. I just have to make a deposit and get some cash back. 1. I don't care how I get my cash back and 2. I don't care to know what my current balances are in my account."
She goes, "oh, well you've been here before. You know the questions we ask." (insert fake laugh here). I give her all the stuff she needs (check, deposit slip, bank card, and driver's license). She goes, "have you ever made a deposit here?" I look at her and go, "really?"
She laughs again and tells me she is relatively new. She proceeds to start processing my stuff. She stares at the check for a few seconds, looks up, and says, "wow, this is a very pretty check."
I was a bit stunned at this and I just kind of said, "I never thought about it that way, I guess." She proceeds to work on my transaction and as she is counting out my cash back, she looks up and says, "you know, that is a really nice shirt." Keep in mind this might have cost me $20-$25 at Old Navy....it was FAR from a nice shirt (I'm wearing dockers, sandals and a button down shirt not tucked in...completely casual and nothing special). It was honestly about the first time in my life. I eventually got out a, "thanks, I guess. I've never really had someone at the bank comment on my shirt before."
So by this time, I'm physically uncomfortable. As she prints out my receipt, she looks at me and says, "so is it a nice day out?" It just so happens it's 85 and comfortable with not a cloud in the sky....the forecast for the whole day.
By this time, I've figured out that anything smart ass I could say couldn't possibly prevent this from being the most condescending customer service experience in my life.
I tried to go on the offensive and be pro-active. I didn't have a chance.
Something must be done about this company and their employees. ![]()
