Question for Religious Folks

i find religion fascinating and like to ask questions about it and the people involved.  this is just a question, please don't take any offense.  read this story.  a baptist pastor is handing out bibles and gets smoked by a passing car, is in a come for a while and finally dies.  he's a man of God, right, doing God's work.  what do you guys think when you see shit like this happen?  is it because he was against gay marriage?  has to be, right?

The Man in Black says God has a purpose for all acts.God bless the Pastor's family !

The Bible should be taken for what it is; a collection of fictional stories that teach morals.   It is not an almighty power that protects those who believe it to be true.

Prove what your book writes as fact.  You cannot.  Either I am correct in my belief or you are in yours and when it all comes to an end we will find out.  I for one am all-in on my belief.  Does that mean I am correct? Absolutely not.

i think a man was hit by a car, handing out bibles doesnt mean you cant be hit  by a car

IMO: God has granted man free will, and man obviously chooses to exercise that free will in his own discretion. God cannot prevent someone from exercising free will in a way that harms others, sad as that may be. It's part of the bargain.

 I think the "Big Guy" has a plan for all of us. Maybe this pastor was destined to die a painful death in the near furture. Leading a life of morals and love of your family are part of his plan and I believe it has it's JUST rewards.

ok, so some say God basically washes His/Her hands of the whole thing and lets the cards fall as they may.  others seem to say that this must be part of some bigger plan which does seem to account for the apparent irony and tragedy (in the religious context) of such a terrible death involving a priest handing out bibles.

I will be 65 years old in August and that is about the most LOGICAL description of the bible, koran or ANY religious book I have EVER heard.

I mostly agree. Nonetheless; The Man in Black will say a little prayer for the little Penguin in Black 'n White.

  I think there is a lot to be learned from these books, but to take it for anything more than lessons about how to live life is too much.  I have never read the Qur'an but a friend of mine who studies all kinds of religion, he is not religious just fascinated by religion, has told me that when broken down the Qur'an and the Holy Bible teach the same things.  Like with any religion there will be a group of radicals that takes it too far.

Not sure that answers your question, but he calls each home as he sees fit, and when he sees fit, imo. You'll never be able to answer many, many questions.  I know i can't.
