I guess once you're already commited for 75% of what something is worth, you have no choice but to pay more.
That is the real hook with that site, you get 4 or 5 idiots so invested, they almost can't let it go.

Exactly.
It preys on human nature in about 5 different areas, this being one of them.
The site operators are printing money.

I just watched Jerrkings bid about 30 times and get the winning price of $24 for 50 Auction bids. 50 x .60 Value of $30
Congratulations Jeey you may of won the auction but paid $18 in bids and $24for the winning bid. You just pad $42 in bids for something you would have bought without auction at $30

Scam how?
If you say scam because the site is taking advantage of the bidders than yes I would agree. That would make it unethical - but not scam.
If they had fake bidders or altered auctions that would make it a scam - do you know of this?
I still maintain that they dont even need to scam to print money and they probably wouldnt fuck it up by scamming. Afterall, they have a license to steal - and the only way to fuck it up is by scamming.
But I could be wrong....

The only thing that (stupid) people will see though is that the winner got it for about $650 bucks, and it is worth 1900.
They dont realize that htere was close to 10K !!!!!! in losing bids!

Yeah, the more I look into it, they don't need to scam. But then again we really don't know how controlled these auctions are.
For example, how do we really know that the top bidder is a legitimate bidder or a computer generated one? Or just someone who works for the site. You notice that there is no way to see any type of profile for these Bidders or contact them.

You are 100% correct.
But there is still part of me that says that unless they are EXTREMELY greedy, they wouldnt do this. This is the only thing that could turn off their money printing press - and if it were me running the place I wouldnt do it in a million years.
I would be happy making 10K on selling a 1500 TV.
I just find the whole concept fascinating. The owners have managed to bundle about 5 human nature flaws in to one money printing idea. The average person has NO IDEA how bad these odds are.

Look at this one ounce gold bar.
Gold is worth about $1,168 per ounce.
Currently the bid is $26.81, which means the site has brought in 2,681 bids at .60 each, or $1,608 SO FAR!!
The auction aint over yet - and they have already made $450 locked in profit - and Im sure it will go MUCH higher.
Afterall, who wouldnt want to buy an ounce of gold fro 27 bucks.

And this "bid butler" thing is quite a scam too.
All you need is 2 people who put in bid butlers - and their bids get chewed up like chinese food at a buffet.
In the gold auction above - there are bid butler bids that brought it up like 100 bids in an instant.
It is so ridiculous - I cant believe what I am looking at - and I cant believe I didnt think of this first!!!!

Ok after a quick google of "swoopo a scam" I read this as a response.
Yes, it is a ripoff. do a simple search in google for
Namiansisa - as i noticed, $50 too late, that Namiansisa
was the one person doing autobids (via BidButler) that was always jacking up the price. Law and behold, Namiansisa actually bids all over the world, germany, UK… you get the point. As in any Casino the house always wins. Let me know send the networks an email.
