I know that this most likely falls into the "grow up? category....but just outb of college, we pooled beer change cash together and watched Wrestlemanina #2 and #3.....

Thanks for posting, didn't know this.  I try to watch new wrestling but its getting so bad, no more Monday night wars for competition.  McMahon isn't putting out the same effort.

TNA is ok, but they don't try to compete with WWE. If they did it might be interesting, but I think they are scared of the big bad WWE.

WWE is now Rated PG...and because of that...it will never be the same again. No more blood. No more cursing. None of that.

 

I heard that at a recent PPV, someone got bloody and they actually STOPPED the match to get him cleaned up before anyone saw that. It's a big pussyfest now.

It's true- WWE is indeed PG now- but that incident with stopping the match to clean up blood was because both guys were scheduled to wrestle among the crowd later on in the match, and a wrestler bleeding all over fans could've led to the Athletic Commission shutting the entire thing down.

The blood does not show up that often.  I watch it for entertainment value, I realize that it is just a show.  I wish they would learn to fake blows better.  When they hit someone on the skull with the side of their fist it is an obvious fake.  Having hit a few heads and skulls with my fist (by mistake) I know the damage you can do to your fist.  I have to admire the script writers sometimes for their originality.  Their story line gets old.  As TNA and Spike TV have hired Hulk Hogan to spice up their show maybe they will give WWE more competition.  TNA has absolutely the lowest class and the worst looking wrestlers I have ever seen.  I rarely watch a whole show.  And many words are bleeped and a lot of them that should be (for kids watching) bleeped are not.  Low class (as if not all wrestling is?)  And so many of these wrestlers are in such bad shape physically that they are wrestling fully clothed.  Oh, well.  Good thing I don't believe it is "real".  Many of them are quite acrobatic, I have to give them credit.

  No offense, I know it's not nice to put a thumbs down in someone's thread, but jeesh.... I grew out of this crap when I was 8 and realized it was all fake.  What's the point?  With real fighting on TV now all the time (MMA), why even watch this crap?  It's like the lifetime channel to me or an infomercial on enlarging your penis - what entertainment value does this junk have?  Does anyone over the age of 10 that isn't a virgin ever tune in to this nonsense?

My God, I remember seeing him enter the ring for a match at the Capital Centre in Md. in the early 80's with about 10 guys playing the bagpipes it was awesome.  The swagger he had as the pipers walked out with him was one of a kind.  He truly looked like he was on top of the world at that moment.  Great memories.

You make some excellent points, but it is NOT fake, but rather poorly scripted these days.  For starters, all people that call wrestling fake need to be thrown out of the ring or flipped over someone's shoulders.  Then when you are in pain after you are done with a scripted match, get back with me.
