There is a very nasty bug that will activate on April 1st.  It's not a joke it's the real deal.  Virus and malware writers have always liked April 1st to spread thier payloads.
 
1. Do all of your Windows upadtes.  If you have XP then look toward the top of all programs and you will see it there.  If you want XP to do it for you then  go to Control Panel, click on the system icon, then click on the automatic updates tab, then pick sometime that you know your computer will be on and have it update for you.  This is if you don't have it turned on. 
 
 
Click on express and you will get what you need.  No matter what it says to download you download it.  From IE 7 to the smallest update.

Nope, you will be fine.  This is just for Windows.  BTW, bravo for using Linux.

Won't do any good.  It's already on your machine it's just not activated yet if you have it.

I've spent the last few days updating machines for it at work. And lipps is right. It's the real deal. I don't believe it will harm linux machines. But I'm not positive about that.

What the virus does is it exploits a bug in the Windows Server service used by Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Server 2008. It spreads primarily through a buffer overflow vulnerability in Windows Server Service where it disables the operating system update service, security center, including Windows Defender, and error reporting.

Ok, I wasn't go to post this link because I didn't want everyone to just use this link without updating windows.
 
But here it is.  It will see if you have the virus (Ok, it's not really a virus, but to make things easy)  It's a network worm.
 
Click on the single pc removal tool.  If you need to clean a network like Nascar then click the Network one to the right.
 
BTW, if your computer won't go to the site.  Then I can promise you that you have the worm.

I saw that special on 60 minutes last night where they said the worms were scheduled to receive new instructions on April 1st. Curious as to what those instructions are, but once I get home I'm definitely checking my computers to make sure they're ok. Thanks!
