Crazy Theory about Gambling....

I know exactly what you are saying. I think luck is a tangible force. It comes in spurts for me, but doesn't last for periods of time.

I learned a long time ago, I was never destined to win big. I can gamble and win small amounts, but the minute I place that "huge" bet", the one I research the hell out of, I lose on some bullshit.

I almost one $5000.00 this past football season, but a placekicker, who had never missed an extra point, in both High school and College, bounced one off the upright, and in perfect weather mind you.

If you believe luck is tangible, then you have to believe, as I do in Karma. What goes around, comes around, in one way or another.

I try to live my life the right way, I never fuck anyone who doesn't have it coming, Shit, if I get refunded too much money from a cashier, I'll point out her mistake and give it back.

Be honest, do the right thing, and know your "luck" limatations, and you'll be fine. Some people are luckier than others, don't be jealous and try yo be like them, it's nothing they are doing to be that way.

not true at all...i know ever % in poker and bjack and in sports betting i consider myself to be in the upper tier of bettors....what im saying is i lose because of shit luck not bc of skill and I think that i cause that by attracting negativity

I want to recommend a book to you: "As a Man Thinketh" by James Allen. You'll like it.

As for your gambling dilemma, if you treat it as a hobby and use only your mad money, then enjoy it. Also, if you're the type that has to have action every night, and you have to bet more than one game whether it's any sport in any season, the odds are against you.

After running a decent sized book, I can attest that the people who beat me consistently really studied the sports they enjoyed and chose the games based on sound analysis (something you'll have to find or develop yourself because there is no magic bullet there. I'd suggest The Gold Sheet for up to date stats) and they managed their money wisely. You seem to be a smart guy and I believe you could be consistent, I'd suggest the same thing. As an example, if you don't care for baseball, then lay off until football season comes back around. Be disciplined in your approach and somewhat anthropomorphic. Personally, I had a very good college football campaign this year and a so-so NFL season. I've made maybe 4 bets in basketball because when I had a book, that season was where we made the majority of our money for the year.

IMHO, the "disease" of gambling is more catastrophic than drugs, alcohol, or any other addiction. The reason? You can quit all of the others and it goes away immediately. With gambling, when you quit, there is a very good chance you have accumulated debt and that has to be re-paid hence giving you that "what the hell, I may as well keep going because it'll take forever to pay this off" mentality. Then it becomes a vicious merry-go-round of relapse, and recovery. You could file bankruptcy, but once again, that has an overarching effect for 10 years.

This is true.  I don't give a fuck what anybody says or thinks of me for feeling this way.  Losers lose, winners win.  End of story.

And YoungOne, I'm not saying you're a loser.  I don't know you, but from your posts, you seem like a level-headed, intelligent, good dude.  It's all about your state of mind, man.  Stay positive.

It's true that Good things happen to good people, and bad things happen to bad people. On the flip side, Bad things happen to good people, and good things happen to bad people, so it all evens out at the end. Basically, there's no such thing as karma.  You might think there's good and bad karma, but that's more psychological than reality.

Thinking positively or negatively have no affect on the outcome of games.  To be successful at sports gambling, you need to have knowledge of that sport and have good analytical skills. Other factors include money management and luck. Luck can work for you or against you.  Of course, you can tediously study a game until your brain pops out, but if a game is determined by other miscellaneous factors, such as bad officiating, injuries during a game, bad coaching, unforeseen weather, etc, then your study probably will not do you any good. That is when luck comes in. The miscellaneous factors play a big role in determining the outcome of games.  How many people cap games that include bad officiating, key injuries during a game, bad coaching, or unforerseen bad weather?  I would say ZERO. There is no way you can incorporate those factors when capping a game because you do not know if it is going to happen or which teams are benefiting from those factors. Unfortunately, luck sometimes play a role in determining if we win or lose in gambling. We would like to think that we win because of knowledge and not because of luck, but we have to be realistic. Hopefully, we have more good luck than bad luck. Luck is random, it has nothing to do with karma.

I somewhat disagree with a few pieces of this statement. You sure can cap games and factor in bad coaching and now there are a ton of stats on the officials in most every major sport. In terms of the weather, most of the time those predictors of it are somewhat accurate. Also, there are mitigating factors for injuries.. such as Tom Brady's first game back this fall. I'm going to look very discerning at who they're going to play and then factor in the tentative component of his potential play. How many times have you laid witness to an athlete coming back from ACL surgery to never be the same hard charger as before? Tiger Woods is an exception to this.

I can tell you with 100% certainty, from my many years of gambling, what separates the winners from the losers.  And I don't give a Dr. Seuss's flying fuckaroo what game of chance you are playing.  Blackjack, Dice, Sports Betting, whatever.  Gambling is streaky, both good and bad by nature.  A winner always presses his bets when he is on a winning streak.  A loser always chases one bad bet after another.  To be a successful gambler, you simply need to understand which streak you are riding, good or bad.  Press your bets on the winning streaks and let the winnings run wild.  Like riding a horse, you need to pull the reins back on a losing streak.  The idea is to limit your losses, but allow the winnings to flow freely.

Get it?  Got it?  GOOD!

Because it's as simple as that.
