just curious, but, how many of you are recovering alcoholics, drug addicts, or have been in prison? It seems most people who have "found" Christ fall into one of those categories. They never think about God until they're caught doing something against the law. Only then are they "born again". Why is that?
Also....jose porR.... just wondering why your thanking God for everything in others posts but you put up a thread

or they justify going to strip clubs and prostitutes by quoting the bible " man is weak of the flesh". Or how about, " he who is without sin cast the 1st stone"
Bunch of phony hypocrits!

Exactly. Why do you think televangelists get away with pilfering elderly retirement accounts>? Benny Hinn is driving a couple of Rolls Royces, stays in Presidential suites in 4 star hotels, and has a mansion overlooking the Pacific ocean. He asks for donations for orphanages in impoverished countries. The people that send money mean well, but SOMEONE is paying for Hinns material possessions and wealth. If you ask any donors where their money went, they will say the orphanage. But someone is picking up Benny Hinns tab of luxury.||an_brick.gif' border=0>

As a "12 stepper", I have found that many of the people I meet with have "found god" so to speak, for me, not so much. However, it is a "higher power", it does not have to be god or a god, it could be a friend, a parent, a child, a relative, whatever. It just means to be humble, and realize that you are not the end all be all. Anyway, there is also a big difference between being spiritual, and being religious (I will admit I am neither, but I also haven't placed a bet in 475 days either). Anyway, anyone who is a recovering fill in the blank, and is making progress (remember it never ends) will tell you that drinking, drugging, gambling, whatever it was was only a manifestation of a deeper issue. Many people say, myself included, "I loved gambling." The truth is, I didn't love gambling, I just didn't like the way I felt when I wasn't gambling (or smoking, or drinking, or doing drugs, etc.). It's an escape.
Getting back to the spirituality / religousness part, here is an excellent quote:
"Those who are religious are afraid of going to hell. Those who are spiritual have been there."
