Ugly 2-6 last week...

For Week 5...

Kent State +2.5 (-107) @ Ohio

Kent couldn't have played any worse last week if they tried against Akron. Ohio lost a heartbreaker to Wyoming and now they tangle with a conference opponent that is no slouch. I like Kent to get back on track and will also play the ML for them later in the week.

Baylor @ Texas A&M -16 (-110)

Poor Baylor, savor that feeling of beating the snot out of Buffalo b/c the tables are going to turn on you this week. A&M coming off that embarrasing loss @ Miami FLA takes out their frustration this week.

Clemson @ Ga Tech +3 (-107)

I don't trust Clemson on the road, it's that simple. Ga Tech in need of a big win in ACC play, here is a golden opportunity.

Cincinnati @ SDSU +14 (-105)

Your proverbial "trap" game of the week. There really are no such things as trap games, right? I don't believe in them, but I do believe in teams traveling across country and coming out flat. Cincy wins the game, but a lot closer than most would predict.

Northern Illinois @ Central Michigan -3 (-105)

Central Michigan had their asses handed to them last year by the Huskies. Last week they had their asses handed to them by North Dakota State. How can it get any worse for the Chipps.? Perfect week to start on a clean slate and what better way by beating a team that beat the hell out of you the previous year, R-E-V-E-N-G-E.

BOL to everyone this week

He doesn't know anything about Clemson's team this year, that's why he said that.  I wouldn't base my bets on last year's team.  Tommy is keeping them grounded and focused.  GT's schemes, like last year, will not work against our team on both sides of the ball, but good luck anyway.

Well, if you read the local papers and listened to the press conferences as I do, you would believe too.  GT needs a win, I just don't believe they can get it b/c their team just isn't as good as everyone thought after they thumped ND, including me.  Good Luck on your pick, sis

So for me to be adequately educated about Clemson I have to... 1) read the local papers and 2) listen to the press conferences...

Don't tell me I don't know about a team b/c of silly things like that.

Unless you're in the locker room or running their practices, you don't know anything more than I would.

There's nothing wrong with difference of opinion, but to tell me I don't know a thing about this Clemson team, c'mon man, I don't just pick games out of a hat to wager on.

I talk to a few players and a team manager on a regular basis, so I would say I would. But thanks for your concern on that.  I'm just saying I have a much better feel for the team than you do, simply put.  Nothing silly about local papers, etc either.  Their knowledge of the team is tons better than the national news b/c people like Mickey Plyler are around the team daily whereas the national news (like espn) only sees a glimpse of them as they are trying to cover a 100 teams, other than Mark Schlabach.  So again, I would def say you know little. Your comment up top didn't make any sense, enough said.

We had a guy here last year who supposably knew things the general public did not before that Clemson/Va Tech game last year. All I'm saying is just b/c you talk to an equipment manager or a few players doesn't make you an insider regardless of what you think.

You may think you have a better feel on the game b/c you live in S.C. or you read the local papers, but it's all in the eye of the beholder. Just don't run and hide if Clemson would happen to lose or not cover this game Saturday. Don't worry about me, I'll still be here making my picks every week.

I've followed you, you are a solid capper.  I'm just saying don't write this team off like last year's.  Your original comment was just dumb about clemson on the road, assuming you watched them last week?  I would just like to hear your reasoning for making it.

My original comment about Clemson on the road was dumb? Clemson, since 2002, is 10-14, straight up in road games. That's the last 5 years, 5 years in which Bowden was at the helm. Don't scorn me b/c I'm a trends type of guy.

Yes, I did watch them last week, but you act like they went into The Swamp and won a road game. They beat North Carolina State, a team that will be good once again soon, but not this year.

I don't make every bet soley on the talent a team possesses, if I bet like that, I'd never win. I use a combination of things when looking at a matchup, whether it be trends, revenge games, home/away, line moves, etc.

Until they prove to me otherwise, I won't lay road chalk with this team. They're 1-0 on the road this year, that's not enough for me.

I was waitin for the clemson homers to come out. LMAO at this teams ranking. First off they beat NC St on the road If this team can get by BC and Va Tech then maybe ill give them their due. But honestly this happens every year. Clemson will finish 9 - 3 or 8 - 4. Bowden is a joke of a coach.. and loves to inflate their record with non conf cupcakes. Congrats on your impressive start.

Clemson destroyed UL Monroe, Furman and NC St .. Impressive  to say the least. What is their SOS .. about 150? Give me a break man.. I remember listening to the call in shows last year and after u guys crushed Middle Tenny fools were calling saying you could hang with usc and Florida. Give it a rest.

here's a trend for you...

Road Team has covered in this series 8 of last 10, I believe.

Well played!  So much for your road theory here or are they playing this game in the Swamp??  I've went to our last game in ATL v. GT and it can't be better than the 6th best home field advantage in the ACC.  Poorly constructed...

Q: does the fact that Choice tweaked his hammy again last week not bother you??  I don't get it?

Sorry for blowing up your forum hof.  Just disagree  with you.

Just one Q for vince!

When did you fans calling in about how great we were after beating Middle Tenny last year?? We didn't play them, moron.  But great argument!

With his "retweak" you can probably get a better line for Tech if you wait, to cover a Clemson win by a FG.  Just a thought for that game...

Simply put, Clemson is 10-14 since 2002 in road games. In my capping opinion, this is a better spot for the Yellow Jackets than it is for the Tigers, regardless of the road team covering the last 8 out of 10 or not.

HOF City-
Completely agree about that Cincinnati-SDSU game. Aztecs should keep it close at home.
I still don't like Tommy Bowden and think it's about time for Clemson to lose a game they should win and then implode after that. Maybe this is a better Clemson team then in years past but I'm still not sure. I was however impressed by that NC St. rout last week. On the other side of that bet you have a GT team with a banged up Choice and most importantly Chan Gailey as it's coach. Might really be best to leave this one alone

I guess I shouldn't be, but, I can't believe the number of Clemson fans coming out of the woodwork after wins against avg to subpar opponents.  If nothing else, Tommy's teams have proven to be consistently inconsistenly.  How anyone can come on here and say with any amount of certainty that Clemson will beat Team X or Team Y is beyond me.  Like a lot of the other seasoned bettors on here, I'll continue to take a wait and see approach with this team.

And for the record, I actually graduated from Clemson in '95.  I probably bleed more orange than anyone on this board.

maybe if you wouldnt have spent so much time writing essays and playing johnny cochran trying to put me on the stand to contradict myself, you'd have your own shit together. but i like you anyway, i dont know why, so do yourself a favor and reverse your tech bet to clemson and make some money.

and please quit stalking me with those essays, its more creepy than anything. no one gives a shit if i say tech wins by 7 or 20+ as long as the spread is -3.
