Not a sexy game, but Wyoming dominated Virginia in Laramie and struggled a bit against a bad Utah St. team the next week. They didn't exactly throttle them (7-3 at the half; actually down 1 after 3 before putting up 15 in the 4th to ice it 32-18), but they did what they were supposed to do and beat a bad team. The Virginia win isn't as impressive to me as it was Labor Day weekend because Virginia couldn't even KO Duke on their own home opener.
Boise's still a good team, obviously coming off a loss and returning home obviously pissed. They always play well at home.

Careful with at total play. I don't see Wyoming's defense caving in. If they can stop the run, it will be a lower scoring game. Also, Wyoming's offense isn't poised to light up the score.

Wasn't last year's game essentially played in a blizzard? Anyway, I like Boise here. They seldom play close to anyone up there, so I'll assume the Cowboys aren't on that level until proven otherwise.

I don't follow wyoming real close but I am an alum. They are a good team, with a solid D they held USU to 0-13 on 3rd dwn, but allowed 4-5 on 4th. Offensively, they were moving the ball at will against USU, but seemed to have a little trouble early in the red zone. Sween threw 2 picks that resulted in touchdowns for USU which is why Utah got close in the score. By the end of the game they were clicking on all cylinders.
I am not sure Wyoming can win outright but they can probably keep the score close. If the spread is -10.5 or more, Wyoming might be the better play.

I think you're being a little hard on the guy MWC. He didn't say he wasn't a fan, just said he didn't follow them closely. As you get a little older life gets in the way of following these teams as closely as you do when you're younger. It's not that you're not interested it's just that priorities change a little. I graduated from University of Kansas and am definitely a fan although I would say that I don't follow them nearly as closely as I used to. I follow them enough to know that I'd never lay 24.5 with the Jayhawks!! Anyway, what difference does it make, at least he was honest in his knowledge of the situation and that's really all I care about.

It is pathetic not to root for ones alma mater. I'd love to have a team to root for, but mine dropped the sport a couple of years ago - the University of Virginia.

I'm on Boise. They didn't play bad @ UW, just couldn't get the ball in the ez & turned the ball over a couple times. The Huskies had a good plan on D & managed to contain IJ. Tharp looked pretty good for the most part & I can see this team getting better on offense as the season progresses. Their D isn't huge but are pretty athletic, so I believe they'll match up better with Wyoming than they did the UW.
Add in the HF ad & I think they cover this week........

Laramie is a great place to watch a game and have fun, the fans are great and the students are obnoxious (the way it should be) but I don't get too excited about them like I used to. My brother is a bigger fan and he follows them closer, keeps me in the "know" and I do the same for him with OU.
Good luck this week, I'll be cheering for the 'Boys and hope they win SU, just not putting my money on it.

Wyoming has a unique market. It's the least populated state in the nation. The University of Wyoming is the only 4 year university in the state. They need all the support they can get, believe me.

Be proud of your alma mater and the education you got at that school and support their athletics for crying out loud!! Obviously, you're sports fans, or you wouldn't be on this site.
So, I take it you guys don't go back to your homecoming games either? It was part of the college experience. And, because of the athletic programs and the boosters and alumni assocs, you can still be a part of it all your life.
To each their own I guess. But, again, I can see that argument if you weren't sports fans. But, you're on a sports related website.

If it's any comparision though, my team was Penn St when I was a kid, and even went to school there my first semester. But, my other four years were at UW. And after spending that time there, going to every game, etc, I could give a rat's ass about Penn St. now. Why? Because it's not my alma mater.
