Yeah TD.  New Mexico State under Doug Martin hasn't set the world on fire.  Martin enters his fifth season with a 10-38 record and hope for a winning season this year is slim to say the least.  His ATS record is 19-26.  Good team for an offense to start the season with.

Utah is sort of living its worst-case scenario seeing that the ground game is the offense's bread and butter.  Running back Joe Williams  (1,407 yards) is gone and the Utes are spring time thin in the backfield because of injuries.  That means the RB competition won't really pick up until August.  Nice opportunity for a young back to step forward during spring drills.

Purdue held their annual spring game yesterday with the first-team offense having its moments, especially early.  Operating with the quick tempo that will be a hallmark of new coach Jeff Brohm's (W. Ky) system.  Quarterback David Blough completed 14 of 22 passes for 192 yards and one score.  The offense showed some balance with a deep backfield running the ball.  After the first team, things where a little more ragged showing Brohm has his work cut out for him.  The spring game concluded spring practice and now the team will await a full class of freshmen and several transfers this summer.  The opener is against a tough Louisville team.

During Mississippi State's spring game Saturday, quarterback Nick Fitzgerald threw 4 interceptions and backup Keytaon Thompson finished 6 of 20, but neither is cause for any real concern.  That's because the Bulldogs top three receivers didn't play at all, nor did two starting offensive linemen.  At the same time, the scrimmage wasn't a bad look for new defensive coordinator Todd Graham (Louisville), who takes over a unit that finished 110th in total defense last year.

The University of Louisville split up its starters for Saturday's Red-White spring game in hopes of making it a competitive contest.  But when one side has QB Lamar Jackson, its hard for an intersquad game to ever be even.  The Heisman Trophy winner completed 19 of 32 passes for 346 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for a 34 yard touchdown in a little more than two quarters to lead the Red team to a 52-7 victory before an announced crowd of 14,000.  The dude has game!

*Thirteen total ball carriers ran the ball with RB Karan Higdon leading all rushers with 81 yards.

*Fifteen different receivers caught at least one pass.

*Safety Jordan Glasgow had a 100-yard interception for a touchdown.

*Eight of eleven early enrollees saw game action.

Poor Speight, he had a patchwork of backup O-linemen and the defense teed off on him with blitz after blitz. Harbaugh keeps pushing his starting QB. They were in his face every play.
Peters had more O-line starters and more time, looked pretty good.
Receivers dropped a lot.
Defense looked pretty good including the young secondary. No really wide open receivers with the exception of a tight end.
Hard to discern where Michigan is at right now. Constant shuffling of personnel throughout the day. Would say the defense looks far ahead of the offense right now,

Ohio State; Strange they played touch football with the starters in the first half. Banged up? Injuries? Left Tackle Jones was in street clothes. Never seen Urban do this in a spring game.
Urban mentioned pre-game that Barrett was hitting 90% of deep throws. Unfortunately the longest I saw him throw was about 20 yards down field. To me Barrett looks unchanged from last year. Throws laterally great with his strong arm. On the move very accurate. Deep throws, didn't see any. Over the top fades in the end zone he was 0 for two I believe.
Could not believe how wide open several receivers were! Not sure what to make of that??
Burrows and Haskins are fantastic passers. Threading the needle many times! Lots of speed on this team at several positions.
Was hoping to see more of OC Wilson's plays and formation style, didn't see much that I could say "That's Wilson's offense", but it's early.

Auburn Weapon - Daniel Carlson has made more field goals (69 of 83) than any kicker in Tiger history.  He hasn't missed an extra point in three years (141 of 141).  He also accomplished something else that no other Auburn player has before.  He won his fourth straight A-Day Game MVP award.  He kicked field goals from 28, 37, 39, 42 and 55 yards and even handled the punting duties.  The kid is a weapon and could be playing in the NFL this year but wanted to come back for his senior year.  Any pick'em game Auburn might have this season....I'm going with the Tigers.

Don't know if you had a chance to catch the Alabama game today on ESPN but if you did....you know they are loaded as usual.

Bama could play a freshman team that would beat a lot of schools this season.

Alabama vs Ohio State in the final game....my take it's going to happen!

Ohio State leads all teams for Spring Game attendance.  The Buckeyes announced a crowd of 80,134 followed by Nebraska at 78,312.  Alabama was third with 74,326, fourth was Penn State 71,000 and rounding out the top five was Georgia with 66,183

Sidenote:  Since Nick Saban arrived at Alabama, the A-Game attendance has averaged 88,761.  Before he arrived, the largest A-Day game was 51,117 in 1988.  Rainey weather throughout Alabama help keep attendance down this year.
