Vegas would probably have them favored against anybody on a neutral field save maybe Alabama. They lost one game to an "In the playoff" Michigan St. team by 3 points. So why would Oklahoma or Notre Dame (also each with a loss) be considered ahead of them in the rankings?
Isn't the goal to get the BEST four teams into the playoffs?

Definitely the objective. Arguments can be made either way, but reality is, the committee takes what happened on the field into consideration. Their opinions of who the best teams are is sure to differ with quite a few people when you're only talking 4 teams. Hell you and your buddies who follow the game closely probably have different playoffs right now.
I'm just hopeful the most hungry and deserving team gets in and wins the playoff, no matter who it is.

They need a lot of help bc no way in hell they can jump an undefeated Iowa or MSU who they lost to at home. Unless the committee wants to put 2 big 10 teams in the field which would be a really tough sell

Ohio St. did have an extremely weak schedule this season up until their Michigan St. game, and that may have shielded some of their offensive issues since they are so talented, they don't need to be functioning at a high level against most of their competition.
Saying that, there's no doubt, to me, that this is a top 2 team in the country, but the timing of their loss, plus the success of both Iowa and Michigan St., in the same conference is going to prevent Ohio St. from being in the top 4.
Clemson and Alabama, barring some disaster, are in the top 2 and it reasons that either Michigan St. or Iowa, the winner of the Big 10 Championship get in. That leaves one remaining spot from the remaining teams, ND, Oklahoma, Baylor, Stanford, and Ohio St.
If ND and Oklahoma lose a game, and Baylor already lost, that could re-open the door to the Buckeyes, but they need a lot of help, beginning tonight.
The timing of the loss is what will hurt the Buckeyes if they don't get in along with not winning their conference.

The problem is when they lost the game, which is pretty pathetic in my opinion. Alabama lost to a 3 loss team and had problems with Tennessee, far more problems then OSU had against any other team. Currently Alabama 6-5 auburn team. OSU today destroyed Michigan.
But you also here people saying ohio got destroyed last week. They lost by 3 points in horrible weather to what is the 5th ranked team. I understand Iowa is also undefeated as well, but it really needs to be asked if the committee is taking the whole season in to count for every team.

They didn't even make their conference championship. Michigan is the first real team they beat all season. As others mentioned they never really dominated anyone this year, just coasted along. Unfortunately style points count in this contest and Ohio State didn't get many this season.

Not only did they lose to Sparty, they looked incredibly bad doing so.
I can understand not throwing deep, but..........at all? In the second half? If you're the "better" team, don't you have the better Qb? You sure did, because you couldn't beat Sparty with backup Qbs playing......
So afraid of turnovers, you couldn't even HAND OFF to Zeke Elliott..........
Then, after losing, you running back cries to the media..............THAT'S a good look
Spartans beat Michigan IN MICHIGAN, and duh Ohio State AT THE SHOE. Took you guys THIRTEEN WEEKS to get a quality road win.
THAT is why you ain't going anywhere. Enjoy the Poulan Weedeater Bowl.............

The BUCKEYES Don't belong anywhere NEAR THE PLAYOFF... NOT EVEN IN THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME... HAD a very soft schedule and barely beat NIRTHERN ILLINOIS and Indiana ...
BEST OF HEALTH, HAPPINESS,WEALTH, BLESSINGS and LUCK TO ALL !!

If Ohio would have played Alabama today, Ohio would have won by 14.

The only way Ohio State gets in is if UNC beats Clemson, Florida beats Bama, Stanford beats ND and loses to USC and Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma... Michigan State would also have to lose to Iowa. Then OSU can be jumbled in with everyone else. Bama would out, ND and Stanford would be out. Iowa would be the only lock in that scenario.

The only definitive team in, for sure, is one Big 10 team - either Iowa or MSU.
Alabama and Clemson are both in with a win in their conference championship games.
That leaves one remaining spot.
The current order is probably:
1) Oklahoma
2) ND
3) Iowa/Ohio St. (if Iowa loses, they would have 1 loss and are in the conversation, but my guess is that Ohio St. would move ahead of them).
ND and Oklahoma have tough games this evening on the road. I think both of these teams have to lose for the Buckeyes to realistically have a chance to get in since Clemson (and especially Alabama) will be prohibitive favorites in their championship games.
So, their is still a road for the Buckeyes to get into the top 4, but it's going to need probably 2 teams ahead of them to lose for them to even be in that category.
