Yep, going with NW MO State here.
Capped it the best I could. I don't believe the Great Northwest
Conference provides Humboldt State with a similar level of competition to what
they'll see this Saturday. CWU plays in that league now. My Dad
coached there once upon a time and it was a great league (Columbia Football
League, NAIA at the time) then the private schools in WA & OR went D3
and the state schools went D2. There's really not enough teams in the
league. The bogus thing they do with playing some teams in
the league twice is a little sad to me. Not
great competition top to bottom. The conference was left out of the playoffs in 2014.
Humboldt State first round 45-31 win over
Augustana University (SD) from the NSIC conf.
All three playoff teams from that league out after opening weekend. A little surprising really, with upset win
for Emporia State over Minn State Mankato.
Emporia State happens to be in the same league as NWMoState. Bearcats took care of business in conference
this season. When Humboldt State was
tested this year in non-conf, they lost 35-10 to Midwestern State (TX) who is
also a #1 seed in the D2 playoff bracket.
But, it was a close game at halftime; 2nd half Midwestern
State pulled away. Humboldt State not
good enough on defense from what I can tell in this matchup. On offense, Humboldt’s RB has video game
stats, but NWMoState strength is run D.
Off a bye week also helps.
Anyway, all in all, it was enough to make a small play.
Like the Hayden Fry profile pic. Know a couple coaches on the Defensive staff
there. Will be pulling for them, but I
think Nebraska will play them tough. May
go to the Big Ten conference championship game to check them out.
