Some early thoughts...
The obvious question about the 2015 season in my mind has to be the Ohio st QB situation. Been doing this for a very long time and I'm not sure I've ever seen a situation like this. You have 3 very good college QB's on one roster. What will Urban do? I actually have a little different take on all of this. I think that for the most part this will be a distraction for this football team. There is no way you can convince me other wise. Ohio st IMO caught lightning in a bottle at the end of the season. I think the success they had was due more to the fact of the emergence of the RB Elliot. The guy was playing at a high level and really carried the team.
What will Ohio st bring back to the table? Well I can tell you one thing I know they can bring back.....and that's a soft embracing schedule. I mean it's beyond pathetic. But hey, Just win, right?
The SEC. Nobody has been more critical of that league over the years then me. Some deserved and some not. But overall I think alot of the things I pointed out were definitely right. The SEC west was the most over-hyped division in the history of college football. The biggest issue isn't the fact that the league is or isn't a great league, cause it is a great league. It's just over-hyped beyond any thing I've ever seen. TCU possibly could have scored 90 points if they wanted to in that bowl game vs the " greatest defense ever "....Please, nonsense. G.T ran for like what? 1000 yds in the orange bowl? Notre Dame beat LSU which was a shock to me. The score in the Ohio st bama game was never as close as the scoreboard showed.....Ohio st trucked Bama in that game. I say all that to say this.....More of the same to come. As long as ESPN controls college football more of the same propaganda to come.
Where does Oregon go from here? I think we might see the end of that era. Oregon was always not taken seriously to alot of sports writers and fans. But that loss at that moment was IMO, a end of that dynasty. I think Oregon takes a step back from this point on.
What are expectations for Texas? This is a serious question. Texas has been really......mediocre for several years now. College football needs Texas back. I'm a big Charlie Strong guy. I think he turns this thing around. But what has to happen? Discipline.... Strong is bringing a few things back to Texas and discipline leads the way. He basically gutted that football team of all the bad apples last year and told Texas fans and alums that it would take time. He came out and said last year that making a run at a title was not happening... I love the guy, he is a no nonsense, great leader and better person. Exactly what they need.
I can't wait for the season and have tons of thoughts... Feel free to comment about anything.
