Who
could back a Michigan team thats been struggling to put points on the
board against quality opponents!?!! Keyword: Quality. Minnesota comes
into Ann Arbor 2-1 on the season with their one loss to TCU. One of the
key points for Minnesota this week is to be able to run the ball but
that could be an issue going against the 8th best rush defense. TCU had a
lot of success in that matchup as they held Minnesota's Cobb to 41
yards. If there is one weakness in Michigans defense, its the secondary
as they are inexperienced in the safety position. Both ND and Utah
managed to move the ball by passing against the defense. Minnesota's
passing game only averages 98 yards/gm and thats because they focus more
on the run option plays. We don't know who will play at the QB position
but I dont think see Minnesota having success in Ann Arbor.
Rumors have been spreading about Shane Morris taking over the QB position for Michigan. Although I love Devin Gardner as a person, his confident is shot and that's been the case in recent weeks. As I said in last weeks match up, Gardner doesn't have it mentally and panics way too often. Morris is more suited for Nussmeier's offense and has better arm than Gardner. He will be able to stretch the field much better and that could get Michigans offense going. Gardner also has had a lot of success against Minnesota in the past if he does start. It will be very important that Michigan does not get themselves in trouble on third downs. There third down efficiency is terrible so I expect Derrick Green to run the ball well giving Michigan some flexibility in play calling. If Michigan struggles on early downs, I could see this being a close ball game...not to mention how often Michigan turns the ball over.
I will be backing Michigan -13 as I see their defense being able to put a lot of pressure on Minnesotas offense. The defense has been a lot more aggressive this year, leaving their CBs on an island compared to playing a lot of zone like last year. Minnesota will have to THROW the ball to win or keep it close.
This game is very important to Michigan players as speculation have started to begin about Hokes future. Quote from Dennis Northfleet, ""I talked to him and I told him I care about him, that we care about
him," he said. "And whatever we can do as a football team to get us the
win, we're going to do it. I told him today, he can't play. He gets us
to the point where we know what we need to know. And I don't want him to
feel, in any way, that he's not doing his job."
Its not hard to post reasons on why so so and so is going to win so take it for what its worth. This is one of the weeks where i would lay the points with Michigan. Good Luck
PS, I hope the AD Dave Brandon gets the boot! He controls the program and is ruining the program!

I can agree with what you say long time michigan fan(bleed blue) think Hoke needs to be more focused with the team while they are on the field. Put a headset on and get into the game, start taking control thats all we ask

He is a players coach and I like Hoke as a person but he simply isn't going to lead Michigan to any championships. He is a great recruiter and I think if he does get fired, he somehow still stays on the team as a position coach. I could only see Hoke staying if we win run the table but I seriosuly doubt that's going to happen.
