Had a very good CFB season but none of you care b/c it wasn't documented on here. Nevertheless I am putting a decent % of my winnings from this season on one play tomorrow that I absolutely love:
Tulane Pick Em
Reasoning: Tulane had its best season in quite some time this year. In fact Tulane will be playing in its first Bowl game in ELEVEN YEARS tomorrow after a decade of missing out. The past 5 years before this season, Tulane won a TOTAL of TWELVE (yes 12) games combined. While the Tulane program might not have any recent familiarity with the Bowl process, HC Curtis Johnson has gone 7-3 as an assistant on various staffs in bowl games including the 2002 Rose Bowl winning Miami team, and should have his team ready to play. The last time these teams matched up last year Laffy put the beatdown winning 41-13, so obviously some sort of revenge angle is probably at play here. Add in the obvious excitement surrounding the programs first Bowl Trip in more than a decade, playing a virtual home game no less (yes Laffy also is basically at home too) and I have no reason to believe that Tulane doesn't come out an play its A-game.
Nick Montana is dinged up and has been erratic admittedly but should be suiting up. Meanwhile Laffys QB Broadway is likely to miss the game. Its not like this dude is Marcus Mariota but he is a legit Run/Pass threat. In Laffys last game of season vs South Alabama that he missed, the backups combined to go 9-26 for 143 yards and 2 interceptions. QB advantage will def favor Tulane in this one. After winning 8 in a row at one point during middle of the season, Laffy lost its last 2 games and therefore is likely imo to come out somewhat flat, having cost themselves a chance at a more signficant bowl game down the stretch.
Laffy's strength is running the ball as they had 2 tailbacks who both had over 800 yards plus the aforementioned scrambling QB who is out. They ranked 26th in the country in total Rushing. However Tulane's D is excellent against the run, ranking 16th in the country in total yards, only giving up 3.14 yards per carry. They also rank 19th in total points allowed. Tulane ALSO ranked 11th in the country in Red Zone D only allowing 20 TDs in 47 trips for the opponent. Point being this D is pretty stingy, and their secondary which is their biggest weakness should not be exploited by the inevitable crappy backup QB play of Laffy tomorrow night.
As far as common opponents go, there were 2, South Alabama and UL Monroe......Laffy lost badly to S.Alabama as mentioned above 30-8 (granted with backup QBs) while Tulane played them much closer at 41-39. As for UL-Monroe Tulane beat them easily AT Monroe 31-14, while Laffy lost to them AT HOME 31-28. Clearly this doesn't mean that much for the sake of the bowl game but needs to be factored in. Tulane also had impressive W's this season over very solid North Texas and East Carolina teams, while Laffys best W of the season was against a mediocre Western Kentucky team.
So to summarize.....Tulane should be well prepared, fired up, and revenge-minded. Their Defense certainly looks better on paper than Laffy's Offense, and that is BEFORE factoring in Broadway not playing for Laffy. The crowd should certainly be live with a lot of recent Tulane graduates and current students enjoying their first bowl game in sometime. I would like to think that the whole Tulane program is on a massive upswing and what better way to carry that momentum over to next year than with an impressive bowl win. I like Tulane to ROLL this game, win by double digits easy and this one coasts to a win.

missed a major point in my write up too regarding motivation.....3rd straight trip to the Nawlins bowl for Laffy....I can't see how they're excited about that.....as opposed to Tulane's first bowl game in 11 years.

I have him listed as Questionable. I assume he's not playing
The latest is Broadway will play but can't tell if he's 100% or not. Either way I think you got it right with or without Broadway. The Under is also attractive. Nice write up. BOL to you this Bowls season.

IMHO I agree 100%. I don't think it will even come down to it, but if it does, the green waves kicker (Santos) is money in the bank. Plus, I like the hot team- Tulane finishing 7-1 ATS - Cajuns 0-5 ATS to end the year. Good luck, MattB, I will be with ya.
