Looking at early lines and Im likingUCLA -13. Really impressed with what Mora is doing there.  I expect a traditional first two weekend crushing of the feeble from the big programs. Nice to include UCLA in that group again.Yeah I know, what a homer.3 months!

I don&#x27;t think you&#x27;re a homer alum but the thing with UCLA this year thats different from LY is they won&#x27;t sneak up on anyone. LY i picked them 8-4 so i wasn&#x27;t shocked. I wrote this in my pac-12 predictions LY about UCLA " Jim Mora will bring accountability to westwood ain&#x27;t that a novel idea" I also said they should start Hundley. And that worked out&#xD;&#xA;I see a 4-1 start to the year and probably a bowl team but i see a tiny step back for UCLA this year. Thats just my 2 cents though

Packers - no worries.I know we lost Franklin and that will hurt but I think we can maintain a consistent "edge" this year.I think Mora grasps the "crush the losers" mentality that big programs have and so I expect us to win by 21&#x2B; the first couple weeks.Could be wrong but we&#x27;ll see...look forward to a great season ahead!

I think the biggest difference we&#x27;ll see is in Bruins is in offensive line play.  They&#x27;re more experienced and w/ the monster recruiting class, some of the newcomers will see action this year to provide depth.  Hundley was sacked too much last year and Mora knows it, he must be protected at all costs and, too, I think they are working with him to take what the defense gives a bit more rather than always looking down the field.  The running game will be by committee but all the players are good - none Jonathan Franklin good, but they can all hit the hole break into the 2nd level.  This year&#x27;s team will be more balanced &amp; will make fewer mistakes and, if defense continues to improve - and I think it will - UCLA wins 9 games at least and could be a top 10-15 team.

Off topic sort of - What do you think of Franklin's chances in the NFL? He fell pretty low to the Packers. Hope it works out for him.

I agree on a 9-3 year. Not sure about top 10 but Id take it. I forgot we play Nebraska week 2 so it will be blowout, close game, blowout IMHO.

well alum i like the franklin pick as we need rb's in Green Bay. I think he's probably as of now a 3rd down back. Having lacy and Franklin should help out Rodgers

also alum and i hate to be debbie downer but UCLA needs to clean up the penalties. UCLA averaged 90.4 penalty yards per game LY worst in the country. Also no team other than UCLA had 1000+ penalty yards total for the season. Also had 129 penalties total next closest was Washington at 108.

Now i will also say pac-12 officals throw a ton of flags but still alum that can't happen again this year

Alumnus - I am probably a bit biased, but I have always liked Jonathan Franklin a lot. I think the Packers are going to be really happy with him. He is a Barry Sanders kind of back in that he has very low center of gravity, can change direction on a dime, and has a real burst off of the cut. He is also powerful and hard to bring down on the first hit, assuming you can get a clean shot at him, which is difficult. If he doesn't get hurt, I think Green Bay will work him in to be a significant contributor to their run game this year.

Back to UCLA, I thought they looked significantly further along this spring game from last; especially at QB - Hundley looked like a real veteran, and overall the team is just big, fast, and athletic. Anthony Barr could play Sundays today. The Oline is huge and I think will be significantly better overall than last year - Simon Goines is monster and Xavier Su'a-Filo and Jake Brendel will be All-American and All-Pac respectively. With the recruited talent, UCLA will be deep, experienced and good along the OL. There was also a noticeable lack of penalties in the spring game, which I hope carries over to the fall.

Looking at their schedule, I think they will beat Nebraska again and if so will be 5-0 going into the Stanford game, which I think is a coin flip because UCLA played Stanford close in the Pac-12 championship losing by 3 at Stanford Stadium; and I think Stanford is no better this year and maybe takes a step back, but the Bruins will be a better team overall. They likely could lose at Autzen, but the Arizona State game is a coin flip and UCLA has them at home, as do they have the Huskies. Definitely will beat USC again; this is Lane's last year in L.A. IMO, so if they stay healthy 9 or 10 wins is reachable.....

I think UGA thinks they have a chance for the BCS. Have to win this game. Line has moved from Clemson -2 to Georgia -1.5. Adding it here.

Georgia -1.5. 2 units.

UL Lafayette +10.5. 2 units. Might be able to get another point by game time but the Cajuns win this one outright. Mark Hudspeth will be coaching a big six program this time next year.

Got to hear coach Mora in San Bernardino today ... the thing you can tell - without him saying it - is he *likes* this team a lot. I don't know how Bruins will do ATS because they will probably face inflated lines because they are UCLA and books know a disproportionate amount of money flows from SoCal, but UCLA will win 10 games this year despite their tough schedule - so long as Hundley is healthy - including the game in Lincoln. Circle it!

motowner - yes, Im too busy/lazy to use separate threads. All plays will be posted here. Dont usually get many comments so it should be easy to navigate even as the year drags on.

gwjtf - I think UCLA is going to do well but yes, the sports media is in love fest mode - 1 because the Bruins have a good team and 2 because Kiffin is so douchey, they want to root against him. I expect to see UCLA homer lines this year but maybe if we get thumped 2 weeks in a row by Stanford and Oregon, we might get a low line versus Colorado and I'll go big.

Adding Northwestern -6. 1 unit. Sonny Dykes, Air Raid, blah blah blah. The Wildcats will not lose this game. Just hope the 6 is enough in what will be a shootout.

Northern Illinois +3.......not yet. Hope to get another half point closer to game time.
