He basically ran Penn st

The public already convicted JoePa in their mind

The most heinous crimes happened on his watch, and he did not tell the cops (HE KNEW ABOUT IT!!)

He also allowed racism and hate to go unreported (via death threats to one of his players via email)

JoePa was the model of "integrity" and "sportmanship"...false illusions!! He wasnt just like Bobby Sherman and Barry Switzers..He was worse after he won a few N.C.s!

He stayed too long, and took his secrets to the grave!

The Freeh report only invesitgated what it could the past 10 years ..due to the Statute of Limitations (which i think is stupid, but thats another topic!)

He came out looking relatively "clean" compared to the stuff that (i and probably more) presume happened during the late 70s and early 80s, when SANDUSKY first discovered his sickness.

It was never about what did happen!! It was always about what didnt happen, and when were facts known?

Questions i would ask Joe Pa. (if anybody knows the answer includning Jay paterno, go ahead and answer!!!

How does an 80+ year old man not know about child abuse?

When did you first hear (or ever suspect) Jerry Sandusky of having "realtions" with small boys?

When and how did Mike McQueary come to you with this information (crying? calm? confused?)

Why didnt you tell the COPS??

Why did you have meetings and emails, before just going to the cops?

Why didnt you tell the cops?

After Mcqueary told you did you confront Jerry Sandusky?

Why was Jerry Sandusky fired?

What exactly do we expect Jay Paterno to say? He is going to

defend his father by any means possible.  Whatever he says is

going to be from his prospective.

He took a dump on Stephen A Smith this morning on First Take. After Stephen A was shocked to find facts out he had no idea about, he said he understands now what their cause is and he will look into their report.

Fact is though, if you havent read the full Freeh report or the full Paterno report, you really have no idea what you are talking about and should refrain from subjective comments.

At the very least, the Paterno report provides and expert from the FBI who investigated child preds for 22 years and gives ideas, facts, and helpful ways our society can detect these creeps to help protect our kids.

That is the most important in all of this, unfortunately the Freeh report just placed blame from conclusions, interpretations and assumptions while the Paterno report does provide us with a guide to better our society and defend our families.

That cannot be argued if you read both reports, all of the reports.

Ho-hum, here come the lawsuits against Freeh and NCAA, and we still have trials to go on the other 3.

Long road ahead, stay tuned.

If you actually read the Paterno report as well or simply listened to Jay Paterno on OTL or Colin Coward show you would know this.

They are not saying their father is completely innocent.  They are stating facts as to what the law was and contradicting many of the Freeh report flaws and his rush to judgement. Furthermore, they are trying to get the facts out and make people understand they need to be a little bit more objective and not take a guy like Louis Freeh (google his name with FIFA, WACO, Richard Jewell) as the end all like the NCAA did.  Jay has stated that they are still seeking the truth but the Freeh report is obviously not the end all nor should be because its based on assumptions and incomplete legally.

For example, Colin Coward suggested Joe Paterno should have fired Sandusky in 2001 after he heard these allegations from McQueary.  Anyone with knowledge of this case would know Sandusky was already retired in 1998, so there would be no reason for Paterno to have him fired.  This was on his show today.

Stephen A Smith said that Freeh rebuttal yesterday Freeh said none of the Paternos would be interviewed by Freeh.  Yet Jay Paterno was interviewed for 2 hours by Freeh, as stated in the report, and Joe Paterno was going to be but died 2 weeks after agreeing to be interviewed, also stated in Freeh's own report.  Which makes his statement yesterday completely false.  Which makes you wonder how many other falsehoods there are.  He said he read thousands of emails, which is impossible in his time he did the report.  Paterno report clears up that there were only 20-30 emails available until 2004 for Freeh to even read.  Another lie by Freeh.

The Clemente report of the Pateno report is based on child molestors, a whole section of the report dedicated to improving wellness of our youth to protect against molesters like Sandusky who are in his opinion the top 1% in grooming a community to believe he is a good guy.

So capper07, i think you are missing the point.  Sure they want to clear their fathers name, but they still say we need to get through trials and other litigation, more facts before we just rush to this conclusion that Freeh came up with because his pals in the PSU BOT who hated Paterno paid him 6.5 mill and used him as a scapegoat get away with this.

The most heinous crimes happened on his watch, and he did not tell the cops (HE KNEW ABOUT IT!!)---Gary Schultz was head of campus police, he told him in 2001, even mcqueary states that in testimony.

He also allowed racism and hate to go unreported (via death threats to one of his players via email)--the most absurd, he fought for more blacks to be on the football team, more diversity countless times to the BOT to be admitted, he defended Rashard Casey in 2000, his QB who was accused of beating a white police officer, he received death threats for using a black qb in the 70s, received numerous death threats for defending Casey and had letters saying they will burn a cross on his lawn for defending his black qb.

JoePa was the model of "integrity" and "sportmanship"...false illusions!! He wasnt just like Bobby Sherman and Barry Switzers..He was worse after he won a few N.C.s!--Barry Switzer give me a break, Paternos academic record of his players and where they are now speak for themselves.  PSU has never been accused of cheating for an athletic advantage, never any sanctions until this BS which has nothing to do with athletic advantage.  Its fair to question should he have done more, we should know soon with trials

He stayed too long, and took his secrets to the grave!--he did stay too long, i have been saying that for years, he took the truth to his grave, unfortunately

Penn st student bodies reaction of a riot, Penn st taking down Paternos statue, Sandusky was still allowed on campus up to 2011, the statute of limitations didnt allow (in my mind) for Sanduskies most "active" time (late 70s early 80s) would be the stuff im interested in!

Did the NCAA over-reach with their sanctions? Yes

Did people and (ESPN and other networks) turn the Sandusky case into a circus? Yes

Has the NCAA ever acted on an "infraction" so quickly?

Does the NCAA have jurisdiction over "legal" matters?

The paterno report is biased...The sanctions wont be lifted! I wont ever change my mind on this matter. I cant ever accept that a grown man didnt defend children, in favor of his "LEGACY"

both reports are biased, freeh was paid 6.5 million by friends in the PSU BOT who hired him.

there are three things the paterno report has over the freeh report.
1. Much more reputable people
2. A Clemente report which explains the behavior of creeps like Sandusky "nice guy groomers" which can help our society in the future protect our kids against this behavior.
3. A suggestion to not rush to judgement and lets get through some trials of the other 3 first and find more information and legal matters resolved.

You are asking the wrong guy what he knew, i think only a few men can answer that.  And i have always maintained, despite what some have said on here about my blinders that there certainly is a decent possibility Joe was a bit negligent from the 2001 incident.  There have been no actual facts to back that up though, by any report.

More importantly i guess is when he knew, and according to FIVE men who testified under oath in a grand jury presentment, Joe was not aware of 1998 investigation.  It should be noted that investigation was done by police and investigators anyway and per Pennsylvania law it would have been illegal for Joe to know about it.

Getting any media outlet or the radical NCAA to overturn their feelings or implications of this case will be almost impossible, no one likes to admit they were wrong.  But i bet they will try, once the 3 guys go to trial ( but i bet those 3 cases will be thrown out)

The only man who knew....took it to the grave!

I would have loved for JoePa to have been on Oprah!

One of the things that stood out with the Jay Paterno family investigators was

“There is no reason to believe that Joe Paterno understood the threat posed by Jerry Sandusky better than qualified child welfare and law enforcement professionals.”

NO SH IT....He didnt tell them!!!! END OF STORY!!!

The Paternos’ 238-page report, which an author said was not a “re-investigation of the investigation,” is akin to defense attorneys in a high-profile civil lawsuit presenting their case, trying to raise doubt about and refute the plaintiff’s evidence. Except in this case, there is no trial and there is no jury, just public opinion and NCAA sanctions.

Freeh called the Paterno report “self-serving” and reiterated belief in his work, which cost Penn State $6.5 million.

“I stand by our conclusion that four of the most powerful people at Penn State failed to protect against a child sexual predator harming children for over a decade,” Freeh said in a statement. “These men exhibited a striking lack of empathy for Sandusky’s victims by failing to inquire as to their safety and well-being, especially by not even attempting to determine the identity of the child who Sandusky assaulted in the Lasch Building in 2001.”

The Arguement for Joepa

“It is virtually impossible to provide a full account of incidents, and more importantly to make judgments related to them, without the benefit of talking to the individuals who were involved at the time they occurred,”

Tom Kline, a Philadelphia attorney representing Victim 5 of the Sandusky case, said the Paterno report does nothing for the victims in the case but rather “perpetuates an intramural squabble now picked by the Paterno family to try to resurrect the reputation of Paterno by essentially criticizing the procedural approach of the Freeh report.”

“The criticism that somehow the Freeh report draws conclusions which are not based on facts that were established on a solid record isn’t a justifiable criticism,” Kline said. “It’s understandable that the Paterno family is interested in the restoration of the reputation of Joe Paterno, but the facts tragically and unfortunately support a different conclusion.”

there was no cover up, even the harshest paterno critics like dan wetzel have came out and said that last night

while you could argue perhaps paterno should have done more (in 2001 he told chief of police as well as his boss then 2nd mile was told as well as CYS), there was no cover up nor was there a rape charge on penn state grounds that received a conviction.

taking louis freeh words as gospel over 3 much more reputable people is subjective.  simply google free with WACO, RICHARD personELL, or FIFA and see what you come up with.

In fact his last presentment into FIFA president was overturned, the one before the Penn St one.

YOU DONT EVEN KNOW ENOUGH TO KNOW WHAT YOU DONT KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

regrettably (already).....thinking about starting a new thread about this crap..............

what's funny here is ....thisguyiswise (TGIW) is schooling you boys here and you have ZERO awareness of it

All you can say....on a loop...over and over...is EVERYBODY's guilty.....and should burn for this along with the entire city and university !!!!!!!!!!....
*anyone that says ....hey wait a minute...let's discuss so and so.....is labeled a pedo lover/enabler!!!...too

Totally understandable....if maybe molested yourself....or mentally retarded (all due respect of course )  or in the 2nd grade....

TGIW is only saying that these people and (Penn St)....should be TREATED FAIRLY......an outrageous request?........seems like it  here
*occasionally...it (might) seem he goes too far.....but out of frustration ....because no one is listening....

Why?....because the crime is too horrible...and must be resolved immediately and all (thought to be involved).....punished....regardless if guilty or not
*this way we can go back to our safe / perfect lives rather quickly......pedophilia is gone for awhile at least

The UGLY truth and IRONY?.....
*that is exactly what happened here......nobody wanted to even consider that Sandusky (a pillar of the community) might be doing.........NOBODY wanted to talk about it....."he just can't be actually having sex with these boys can he?"........To Paterno and others (all their lives honorable/ respected men)  the answer was NO.......................................................probably not

*if in your mind you need to think Paterno had an awareness and full understanding that JS was sodomizing young boys feel free....IMO he did not

SO.....thanks to you and most everybody else....the UNITED STATES of AMERICA continues to be one of the most dangerous (no-wartime) places on earth for a 10 year old boy to live ..........FACT
*from being murdered by his own parents or raped by family or friends of the family........FACE IT....it happens everyday.....and will continue forever until you do....

penn state and joepa apologists, errrrrrrrrrr, blind homers, can say whatever they want, but:

a) the old man is dead, from cancer and the shame and humiliation of getting fired, no less

b) his legacy and the legacy of his football program is forever tarnished

c) the current coach bill o'brien will be gone within two years and they will be back to square one

these are the facts and there is absolutely NOTHING that any penn state and joepa apologist can do to change it
